Slow burn
Emma and Mike have an instant attraction to each other but Mike chooses to let Emma think he is married. When she finds out that he is not married he then continues the slowest burn in history lol. I liked getting both Emma and Mike’s points on view and loved the matchmaking as well.

Emma and Mike
I enjoyed this small-town slow-burn romance between Mike and Emma. He's a police detective who was instantly attracted to Emma when he was sent to look into a 911 call reporting the death of the Great Dane Emma was looking after. He was expecting to find a body due to a mix-up by the 911 operator.
Emma is a curvy divorcee who is not looking for a new relationship having been burned badly by her cheating ex who destroyed her self-confidence. The second time they met was at a police picnic/baseball match she was invited to by her sister, Amanda who has for years called her mum despite there only being a 13-year age difference. Mike is a divorced single parent to Melissa his thirteen-year-old daughter and has been divorced for four years. Mike has decided that until Melissa finishes school he would devote all his time to her. Unfortunately due to a misunderstanding, Emma thought that Mike was still married so she decided to ignore her attraction to him and steer clear.
Their next meeting was at a costume party, she was wearing a harem costume and he was dressed as Zoro but both of them knew who they were, the attraction between them was palpable and undeniable but both of them decided to attempt to ignore it as best they can, that is until they can't.......
I loved all their interactions, especially after Emma learned that Mike was available...... It was fun watching Mike squirm as he attempted to keep up the pretence of still being married.
The excellent narration by Christina Rose brings out the most of this well-written story I liked the clear vocal characterisations, she made me feel every emotion.
