A new-to-me author and narrator.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narrator's voice was pleasant to listen to and the pacing was good. The story was super-hot but what I really liked was how caring and supportive Brandon was of Devin. Devin's dad was a homophobic jerk but I liked how things were resolved in the end. I'll be looking for more from this author and narrator.

Wrestling with indentity
This story is about Devin and Brandon struggling to be the people they are.
Devin has been raised Mormon and when he goes to college gets the chance to present himself as who he really is, gay. Devin is trying to work on a college degree, a singing career and job at a bakery. He is really concerned about his parents realizing who he is.
Brandon is bisexual but has yet to experience much of it. While he is working on his Speech therapy course he is faced with the reality that he has a strong attraction to Devin. The trouble is both are facing issues. There are a number of twists to this story.
The narration by Finnley Cole gave personality and emotion to the story.

MM - College - Mormon romance
New to me, author and narrator, and I'm hooked on both.
There were two great main characters, each with good backstories and well-defined personalities. There were also lots of side characters who made the story even better.
The story revolves around Devin, a young, naive Mormon and Brandon, who are both at college and finding themselves within the gay community. Well written, very traumatic pasts/presents that are handled well.
I recommend this book/audio.
The narration was good. Finnley Cole is new to me, but he was clear and concise, and I enjoyed listening. I did speed up the narration to 1.15 on Audible, but this is normal for me.

A brilliant listen
This was my first book by and it definitely won't be my last.
The characters are so well thought out and the story was great.
The Narration was also very good.
Highly recommended

Narration brings out the best of the story
I really enjoyed this story when I read it but think that the narration by Finnley Cole brings it to another level. I felt like the characters were telling me their story instead of just being told it. He gives wonderful voice accents and I felt the emotions of the MC's come through.
On A Different Mission is a wonderful romance between two college guys who have come to learn who they are and what they want. Brandon is now determined that Devin is the guy for him and his shy and hesitant flirting is completely adorable. Neither have been with another man before so it's a whole new experience for them both but they are so suited to each other. Devin explores more of who he is in his identity and Brandon is so supportive of him and clearly shows him how hot he finds everything about him. They have a great group of friends, especially their best friends, Olivia and Layla, who push them both to be themselves and happy. Nate and Dana, Devin's bosses, are fun and have a go at playing matchmaker. Devin also takes up singing in a band and they turn out to be a fun group of guys that I can't wait to get to know better as we go through the series.
The drama comes in the form of Devin's family. He was raised in the Mormon community which his parents and brother are still a part of. Knowing that's not his path, he now hesitates to tell them, sure that he will be abandoned by them for being true to himself. Brandon is so great here as he offers nothing but support, as do his new band mates and bosses.
I am surprised that this is my first book from this author. I've really enjoyed Devin and Brandon's story, especially the growth of Devin's characters with where he's come from to how comfortable in himself he is by the end. You can tell that a couple of the couples we meet have their own story and I've now found that I definitely need to go back and read the Mesa Boys series.
A recommended college romance with two guys who are exploring and sharing new things together and finding their HEA.

Sweet and romantic
This was a really wonderful coming of age story. I loved both protagonists very very much, the were relatable and lovable and it was heartwarming reading their journey of self discovery and love. They had great chemistry and I absolutely adored how they took care of each other. The narrator was great, I liked how he brought the characters to life.

When one karaoke changes everything
I’ll admit this was my first Christie Gordon audio and I was excited to dive in. Christie has a unique style that brings out the angst of not belonging with one’s family and religion with trying to find one’s place in the world.
Devin is that character. He’s moved from his small town, essentially turned his back on his religion, and has made a life for himself. To be clear – the religion did the turning first. His faith does not believe in homosexuality. Devin no longer feels like he has a place. But he loves his parents – creating a huge chasm that only he knows exists. His mother still talks about him going on missions when he finishes university. He knows that will never happen. Singing one night at a karaoke bar, though, changes his life. He gets recruited into a band. A band of queer guys who welcome him, his quirkiness, and his gender fluidity which he’s only beginning to explore.
Enter Brandon. He’s been crushing on Devin at the bakery where Devin works. Only a nudge from his bestie prompts him to finally speak to Devin. They discover they have a lot in common – and some differences – but that they might be good together. Brandon’s background couldn’t be more different than Devin’s. His brother is out and his parents accepting. Brandon hasn’t taken the final step of coming out to them, but it feels like more that he’s looking for the right time rather than dreading outright hostility. Brandon helps Devin fight off the men and women who attend the concerts and make it clear Devin is the object of their affection. Brandon’s acceptance of Devin’s gender fluidity makes for a great relationship. Throw in some handcuffs and they’re good.
A near-tragic event unravels everything, though, testing both the strength of the bond between the men as well as Devin’s own ability to cope with his family. This book doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. And I like that.
I will say I got my happy ending and I’m pleased to see there are more books in the series. Finnley Cole narrated this book and although he’s new to me, I’ll say he did a great job. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Finding yourself
This is a good book and I will definitely be listening to and reading the next one. Even though I cried a little at the end, they were happy tears so all is good. I particularly liked the identity exploration part of the book. Good narration 💜
