About this listen

Can a touch of Satin bring a straight copper to his knees?

Detective Joel Hunter is on surveillance when he first lays eyes on Satin, the singer with the amazing voice, which is as beautiful as she is. But when the stake-out comes to an end, he can’t resist going back to the bar. He gets a shock when he learns what lies beneath the satin dress, but an even bigger one when he realizes he’s attracted to the owner of that sultry voice - Ross Dauntry.

Ross can’t figure out why the cop keeps coming back, even after he’s learned the truth. Is Joel attracted to him, or to Satin? Because the answer is important, and one way or another, Ross needs to know....

A standalone novella of satin and sensuality....

Although this story is in the same series as Lace, you will not find Dave and Shawn in this audiobook - Joel and Ross provide enough heat of their own.

Great out-for-you story.

Satin was the second book I read by K. C. Wells. That was back in 2017 and I haven’t looked back. I don’t re-read books, no matter how much I love them, simply because my TBR/TBL lists are way too long. The exception to that rule is listening to the audio of books I’ve already read.

Listening to Seb Yarrick’s fantastic performance of this story brought back memories of how much I loved the book when I read it nearly 4 years ago. His audio performances are always good but I think he outdid himself with this one. I loved the various accents he used for the different characters. He was able to bring tears to my eyes in a few places and that’s not something that happens often when I’m listening to, rather than reading a book.

GFY/OFY books are favorites for me and this one was great. Satin is the story of “straight” cop, Joel Hunter and his fascination with female impersonator, Ross Dauntry. Joel is puzzled by his attraction to Ross but he can’t seem to resist the pull he feels for him.

This story has just the right amount of angst and tension between the two MCs. They slowly begin to develop a friendship and more and then they (mostly Joel) mess it up. The story has a lot of depth and character development as well as an HEA; I loved the journey these two men take to get there and their chemistry together is really hot!

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Loved this

K.C Wells is such a dirrrrty author and Seb Yarrik did a fab job narrating this story. Wells always has such unique and spicy stories and this one is no different. The characters are always very well written and the chemistry is off the charts!

Delightfully Heartwarming

I am really enjoying this series. It seems to get better with each book. Even though Joel was not looking to hook up with a man, when he met Satin, whom he mistook as female upon seeing him, once he actually met Satin, it became obvious that ‘she’ was really a he, named Ross. They hit it off and what started as a friendship, soon turned into more. I liked their chemistry together, and their easy banter. This story drew me in and made me sad when it ended. It was well written, with lovely characters. I am really enjoying Seb Yarrick’s voice. He does such a wonderful job with the characters, and it’s never hard to tell who’s talking. He does a phenomenal job at getting you to feel what the characters are feeling. He was the perfect choice for this series.

Sultry and Sweet

Satin is part of the A Materials World series, but it is not connected to the first book in anyway. Satin is a lovely book about a man who discovers his sexuality is not so straight and another man who finally can find a relationship where he can trust his heart to his partner. This was a wonderful book – the plot was low angst, but there was still enough internal drama to create conflict with the characters. The sex scenes were extremely hot and steamy, and so, so sensual. I really liked how the characters developed and how their relationship grew with them. I felt really good once I finished this book and enjoyed every moment of it.

Seb Yarrick narrated the audiobook and did a fantastic job. I love his voice and how well he voiced all the characters. He brought out the sensual sultriness of Satin/Ross which really enhanced the story. The audiobook production was well done and overall it was a great listening experience.

A sweet story

This was a really sweet and cute story about Joel, a policeman, and Ross, a gay man who dresses like a woman to sing at bars, who meet, then their lives fall apart.

Joel is straight. Always has been, always will be. And that's what he tells Ross, too. So, when his feelings start changing, Ross doesn't know if it's because he dresses like a woman and sings in bars, or if it's because of him.

Great premise, lots of LGBTQ+ side characters involved in the story. One complaint is the roommate of Ross. She did not impress me.

Loved it!

KC Wells does it again! I loved this couple, the singing/ballet angle, bi-awakening, all of it! There's good humor & amazing writing, steam and romance, coming out and in the end, love wins. Well Done!
The narration was spot on. Seb Yarrick keeps getting better and better. The emotion & comedic timing were very good. Great job!

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧 A Sweet & Spicy Delight!

K.C. Wells does it again, she pens another wonderful novella for her “A Material World” series and I loved every minute of it. I enjoy K.C writing style and the characters and storylines she creates. This book is Joel Hunter and Ross Dauntry’s story and what a story it is. Joel is a Detective and the case he is working on takes him into a bar where there are live performers. This is where he first lays eyes on Satin, a performer who Joel is intrigued with. Joel is straight and has not had luck with dating or finding the right woman. Finding himself drawn to Satin he goes back to see her again and gets to meet Ross, the man who performs as Satin. These two clicked immediately and even though Joel was reluctant at first but they agree to meet for coffee as friends. Joel is conflicted but he finds he enjoys spending time with Ross and wants more. It is a big step for him but Joel realizes he is attracted to Ross in a sexual way and he finally gives in to his desires. I thought these two were perfect together and for each other. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is a novella sized book that packs a lot of story, a story that is beautifully plotted with drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some laughs, some hot sexy times and a wonderful romance. K.C. Wells, thank you for another enjoyable and entertaining story!

🎧📚🎧 And for the terrific narration, Sen Yarrick is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. He brings these characters to life, humanizes them giving each their own distinct voice which makes it easy to follow along and tell who is who. His portrayal of the characters is spot on, he grasps each persona, takes each role and makes it his own. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Great pairing

I was so drawn to listen to this story. Mixing a straight cop and an impersonator how fun is that. The author knows how to put them together to make a amusing story. First the copy doesn’t know its not a woman he’s attracted to. Then I’m not sure Joel is ready for the impersonator, Ross Daltry. This attraction forces Joel to admit he is bisexual. The way Joel admits to loving Ross is wonderful. The narration of Seb Yarrick really brings the characters to life. This is the first story I’ve read/listened to of this series but now I have to get the rest. I was given a free copy by Gay Romance Reviews and I want to thank them for introducing me to this series.
