Summary

Founded over 400 years ago, Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio is a private and very elite society, where dominance and submission are revered. Steeped in tradition and excellence, every dominant, every submissive, and their pairing are selected with great care.

When Hunter Vargo is brought into the Sanctus, his need for strict dominance sees him paired with the wrong master. But only a short time later, mistreated and his trust broken, he’s recalled, his collar removed. The grand master knows it will take a special kind of dominant to restore the sub’s faith and trust.

Sig Bruckner’s world is perfect. He has a great job, he has high standing within the Sanctus, and he has Levin, the very best submissive. When he’s asked to take on a second sub, a young man with issues and a rule not to touch him, Sig’s world is turned upside down.

When his dominance, his patience, and self-control are tested, and when Sig’s relationships with both subs are pushed past his limits, everything begins to unravel. Yet, Sig knows every good dom learns from their subs, and he’s no exception. He might not be able to fix everything on his own, but, perhaps, the three of them together can.

Please note: This is a BDSM-lite MMM story.

Wow, that was interesting. I’ve read many sub-stories and felt this one was like no other.

It has an air of a secret society founded long ago with devotion at its core, branched from the church but kept hidden. I felt this story was a fantasy with a forbidden world laid out to enjoy.

There is the classic N.R. heart but I feel this story has seriously elevated heat levels. I will say some parts had a hint of “clinicalization” to them and moments were it felt historical in nature with its dialogue, manners, and dialect. it was still such a passionate story and I felt for these characters, their growth, and their love. I loved Hunter and his whole character arc. the dynamics between these three touch my heart and did bring out a tear or too.

Fabulously written and brilliantly narrated! A seriously sexy read too!!

Thanks for reading!

Trust, Respect, Consent, and Care.

I enjoyed SIR when I read it months ago and although it’s not my favorite N.R. Walker book, I was glad I read it. This author is versatile, moving between subgenres with ease as she writes the stories close to her. This BDSM-lite book is a departure from her other books but worth the listen.

I’ll start with the narration. Nick J. Russo is a great narrator and I was intrigued to see how he would handle Sig Buckner who was born in England but has lived everywhere and is now settled in Italy. Nick’s interpretation of the accent worked and he was able to sustain it, which I was grateful for. Despite the accent, this is Nick in his element and his talent is great.

As to the story. Sig is a Dominant and Master, happy in his relationship with his submissive Levin. The men have been together for years, and have a great thing going. Sig is a doctor while Levin is studying law. They are intelligent, caring, and content. When Sig is approached about taking on another submissive, even temporarily, he’s concerned about how the dynamics will change between Levin and himself. And he’s right to be worried. Bringing a third into a relationship is fraught with potential dangers, especially when the young man in question has been so profoundly abused. From the moment I met Hunter, my heart was broken for the young man. After all he’d suffered as a child, his trust has more recently been broken by a Dominant and he’s placed in Sig’s care with the hopes he’ll recover.

Levin takes Hunter under his wings and Sig watches over the two young men with affection but there’s a line he cannot cross. Hunter is only with them temporarily, and there are things that are off the table including anything sexual. This makes sense, of course, but the lack of grounding proves fraught with problems. Stability is held just beyond Hunter’s grasp when it is the one thing he needs most. By the time his needs are truly revealed, it’s almost too late to save the relationship that has been growing between the men.

Almost.

But this is a romance and I got my happy ending. This book has a little something for readers of gay romances. There is a touch of BDSM for the adventurous, a sprinkling of angst for lovers of tough emotions, and a genuine connection between the three men in the relationship for the die-hard romantics. I hesitate to call them a triad because I see those relationships as all being equal and although Levin and Hunter have autonomy, they are also dependent on Sig in the D/s relationship.

Finally, the book is told entirely in Sig’s point of view and although that works, I would have loved to dip inside Hunter and Levin’s minds to see their true feelings. Overall this was a good book and I’m glad I listened.

Pretty good!

4.5 Stars!

Let me start by saying that while I've read some BDSM books, they usually are of the lighter, non-24/7 kind. So while this book features a softer kind of Dom, it was still a bit difficult for me to adjust to an all-encompassing Master/subs style where the Master pretty much decided everything for their subs, and even if they had some input regarding their limits, they were all also subjected to the rules of a higher organization like the Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio.

I really liked the dynamics between Sig/Master/Sir, Levin, his first sub and Hunter, their new prospective sub. Sig was fair, caring and very nice to Levin from the start and the addition of Hunter—despite it being a temporary measure and the fact that Sig was forbidden from any sexual contact with him, just made their relationship—just strengthened the bond between Sig and Levin, showing Sig that his feelings for his sub ran deeper than he thought at first. Hunter was sweet and I really liked seeing him come out of his shell. He just fit so well with Sig and Levin, and I adored how protective of Hunter both of them were.

The audiobook was amazing, as always, but that's to be expected from Nick J. Russo. He always injects a lot of emotion into his performance and I loved that all the characters had a distinct voice. It doesn't hurt that all those sexy scenes are even hotter with him narrating them. LOL

Overall, this was a very good introduction to this kind of reads. It's not my favorite of Ms. Walker's books, mostly because of the theme, but it was written beautifully and I even shed some tears at the end, which is always a good thing for me. Very recommendable!

bdsm at it's best

so glad I waited for the narration! Nick did a fan job as he does with all the bdsm stories he does.
story is fantastic, a bdsm secret society that has strict rules. how a Dom and his sub can welcome a damaged sub into their fold , only to be held back by this society. despite this they fall in love even if that means having to teach someone what love is. it's a beautiful story on how someone, who has really had the chance to express his wants/needs/dreams, is being asked to tell what these are and learning that he is a gift not a burden

So incredibly hot and surprisingly sweet

WOW this book was not what I expected. I considered skipping it because even though I adore N.R. Walker D/s books aren't always my favourite but this was SO GOOD. In true N.R. fashion she made the subject her own and the story felt like nothing I've listened to before. The MMM dynamic she created was perfectly developed and the relationship between all of them was so heartwarming and HOT. She really nailed this book and Im so glad that I gave it a try. The Dom Sig was so tender and sweet with is boys I instantly loved him and the boys wow I adored them! they were the perfect counter balance to each other and to Sig.

Nick did such and amazing job narrating this book and he honestly sounded so different from what Ive heard from him before that I actually had to check more than once that he was the narrator. His voices and soft accents we're spot on!

Pedestrian

Are we really still at the stage that a story including BDSM elements is allowed to stand on that alone? Thin characterisation, thin plotting, and a story arc that rarely makes it above the base line is a recipe for boredom in any genre. Why should it be any different here? Add in the very tired trope of a secret society (which somehow manages to operate in plain sight) and a queasiness which comes from the story's quasi-religious hue, abuse, and sexual situations, and you'll not be surprised to learn I skipped through the final 3+ hours.

Nick Russo was adequate as narrator, though at times, he sounded as bored as this listener felt.
