About this listen

After eight years on the stage with The Company of Fiends, the glow of the spotlight is starting to wear thin for Hazel Nix. The theater is perfect for a girl like her—one with a secret she keeps even from her more monstrous peers—but playing pretend is only exciting for so long. After so many lovers, on stage and otherwise, Hazel has yet to make a lasting connection with anyone and considers taking her last bow at the company.

Just as Hazel encounters a new and intriguing patron, disaster strikes the theater. Girls are going missing and suspiciously bad luck plagues the stage. Between ex-lovers, current bed partners, and new faces at the theater, Hazel’s heart is tangled more than ever, and she finds it increasingly impossible to draw herself away from the life she’s known for so long.

It is time to make a choice. Start fresh before she’s drawn into the mess or take a stand and fight for the family she’s found in the strangest of places.

Perfection

I first read this book on kindle and, whilst I really liked it I thought it second to the previous book. However, the audiobook is even better. The narration was outstanding and Isabella’s voices and interpretation of the characters was perfect. The only way it could have been better is if we had a male narrator too,
Here we follow Nix, an actress in the Company of Fiends theatre (which we saw in the previous book). She has a secret and a huge appetite too. We follow her acts and how she slowly gets tangled up with a hand full of monsters, whilst battling an enemy to the theatre and herself.
I loved that she gets a bunch of different monsters that are not always appealing to the eye as they have slight differences to humans. That part is way better than the previous book (they were too human like in that one).
Over all, a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Beautiful narration for a gorgeous monster romance

I loved this book (and the entire series) when I first read it but listening to a book through a beautiful and high quality narration is a sign of an evening well spent for me. I love a good quality audio books and Isabella Clark has become one of the favourites.

The accents are beautifully and naturally done, monster accents are perfect - especially for Constantine and a Hunter - and I loved getting back to this book through the new elements this beautiful narration brings to the table.

Great job to both Kathryn Moon and Isabella Clarke. Highly recommend read for monster romance lovers.
