Summary

Short stories about sexual encounters, the energies that conspire to create them, and the energies that are created in their wake. Prose that explores our human endeavors to love. The Odd Purgatory is like no other collection of erotic short fiction.

Sometimes the most salient moments in our erotic explorations take no more to delineate than a paragraph or two. At other times, the arc of a traditional story structure is needed. In either case, the collection is more about "being" as opposed to "doing", and about the space between the words.

With original music by Jeff Evans.

THIS IS ONLY ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

What made the experience of listening to The Odd Purgatory of My Personal Perception the most enjoyable?

1. It worked! Total technophobe, ancient P.C. but it actually does exactly what it says on the tin. You don't need Windows 10. Yay!
2. You can pause, rewind; OK, you can do that with a paper book as well but it's less effort to listen again than to re-read.
3. The fact that it is read by the author is a huge plus, there is no substitute for the expression he brings to this beautiful prose.

What other book might you compare The Odd Purgatory of My Personal Perception to, and why?

This is a tough one... For the wonderful detail of different characters' perceptions, perhaps the Thorn Birds? Though that is a continuous narrative and this, a collection of short stories but the way Mr. Cobb gets inside different characters' heads is somewhat akin to the way Colleen McCullough does, if I may be so bold.
For the sheer empathy with a vast range of completely different characters; straight men, gay men, women... Game of Thrones. How George R R Martin can make one care about such a diverse collection of people is a mystery to me but Mr. Cobb does the same.

What does Keith Hamilton Cobb bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

His wonderful, mellifluous voice, the skills of a very accomplished actor and the empathy and compassion he has for his characters which would otherwise be left to the reader's imagination. I used to think mine was pretty good but I would have missed out on so many nuances had I missed the opportunity to hear Mr. Cobb read his works. It just makes me admire him more and more and I am now even more determined to see American Moor. Do not miss this!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Heck, yeah! And it's three and a half hours long. I couldn't "put it down".

Any additional comments?

Nope.
