Summary

山の麓に住む金十という木こりは、ある晩不思議な体験をしました。それは、その日の朝に見つけた大きな実を食べたことから始まりました。その大きな実とは桃くらいの大きさがあるビワの実です。家に持ち帰り、最初のうち、金十は食べることをためらっていました。しかし、月明かりに照らされ、その実はとてもおいしそうです。もう我慢することができません。そこで、なんかの実ならば、食べ終わった後に種を植えればまた木が生え、実をつけるだろうと思い、一口食べてみると、それは今まで食べたことがないほどおいしいものでした。あっと言う間に食べ終わると、金十はその実の種を庭に埋めました。するとどうでしょう、金十の目の前で、種はすぐに芽を出し、立派な木となり、木には、先ほど金十が食べた実と同じ実がいくつもいくつもなりました。それだけでも、驚いてしまう出来事だったのですが、さらに、そこに鳳凰のような美しい鳥が何羽も飛んできて…。この金十の目の前で繰り広げられた絵巻物のような光景は夢だったのでしょうか、現実だったのでしょうか、金十が目覚めてみないと分かりません。大神いずみさんの臨場感溢れる朗読でお楽しみ下さい。
