因幡国鳥取城主・池田光政の近臣である青地小平太は、横紙破りで有名であった。小平太は、たとえ名君と名高い主君であっても、遠慮無く諫言する男であった。「いつか眼に物見せてくれる」と常日頃から考えていた光政は、ある日、小平太の不意を突き、小平太を台地から突き飛ばしたのだが……。
『親しき仲にも礼儀あり』『喧嘩するほど仲が良い』そんな言葉が真っ先に浮かぶ作品です。
