Summary
「無頼派」「新戯作派」の破滅型作家を代表する昭和初期の小説家、太宰治によるレーゼドラマ。初出は「新ハムレット」［文藝春秋社、1941（昭和16）年］。作者による「はしがき」と九幕の戯曲からなり、基本的にシェークスピアの「ハムレット」の筋を利用しているが、オフィリアの妊娠、ガーツルートの自殺など幾つかの改変が見られる。太宰自身は本作について、「新しいハムレット型の創造と、さらにもう一つ、クローヂャスに依って近代悪というものの描写をもくろんだ」と述べている。
