・ひそやかな交換 もうじき、六十三回目の誕生日を迎える。気がついたらそんな年齢になっていた。還暦を過ぎてからは、毎年の誕生日の意味が少し変わったように思える。 　それまでは、ひとつひとつ齢（よわい）を重ねるといった積み立て型だった人生が、還暦以後は積み立てた貯蓄を、ひとつひとつ引き出してそれを別なものと交換しているような心もちになってくる。 　積み立てた年齢はいったい何と交換できるのだろう。もとより、交換したからといって手元から年齢がひとつ無くなるわけではない。等価交換とは違う交換なのである。 　一方では確実に馬齢を重ねている。 　だが、もう一方でひそやかな交換が行われている。 　交換することによって減じるのは、積み立てた年齢ではなく、残余の時間なのかもしれない。　ここのところの機微が、うまく言葉にならない。(本文より)内田樹&平川克美の「大人の条件」はこちらから→https://yakan-hiko.com/uchida.html
