Summary

常陸(ひたち)の介(すけ)となり妻・空蝉(うつせみ)共々任国に下っていた前伊予(いよ)の介(すけ)が帰京することになりました。
　一行が逢坂の関にはいる頃、源氏の君はちょうど石山寺を参詣されているところでした。
　空蝉の弟を使い、忘れられない恋しさを訴える源氏の君。そうこうするうち、常陸の介は病気で亡くなり、継息子に結婚を迫られた空蝉は出家してしまいます。
