バイオベンチャー・シリーズ第５弾。今回は、シンバイオ製薬（４５８２）、ヒューマン・メタボローム・テクノロジーズ（ＨＭＴ：６０９０）、ソレイジア・ファーマ（４５９７）の３社を特集する。
　シンバイオ製薬は、リンパ腫治療薬「トレアキシン」を主軸に、世界中の新薬候補を厳しく吟味し、国内で開発、製造販売承認を取得して販売する。ターゲットは、がん、血液、疼痛管理。特にがん、血液の分野では、患者数の少ない希少疾患やこれまで有効な治療法がない疾病を対象としているのが特徴だ。
　ＨＭＴは、メタボローム（生体内の代謝物質）解析受託を基盤事業としながら、新規のバイオマーカー探索を続ける。最も注目を集めているのがうつ病を血液で診断する方法だ。ＰＥＡの発見で客観的にうつ病を診断できるマーカーになるよう開発を進めている。
　ソレイジア・ファーマは、伊藤忠商事を大株主に持ち、日本・中国の患者へのがん治療薬・がん支持療法を主軸とする。先行する欧米との時間差を埋めいち早く患者へ提供できる開発を行っている。そのパイプラインは治療そのものだけではなく、患者のＱＯＬ（生活の質）を高める製品へも及ぶ。
