Summary
This work points out the need for people to think about, and reflect upon, the nature of their existence while recognizing that there are two sides to our reality - the physical and the metaphysical. There is knowledge that comes out of such an investigation that will lead to an improved life, both from an individual and a collective sense.
The approach in this work is to look at the concept and practice of religion as indicative of a general sign or pattern, which shows itself as a commonality across much of humanity. That is, many people are followers or adherents of some religion and that fact points to an inner need in humanity that people seek to satisfy through the practice of a religion. At its foundational level, religion serves to address humanity’s inclination and callings regarding that side of ourselves, the side that continues on after death. What are the general commonalities in what religions tell us about the nature of our existence and what continues on after we die? This book addresses that question and attempts to paint a picture, or outline, of “the way things work”, and the “rules of the game” as they apply to the bigger picture of life.
Additionally, there is an overarching theme in this work that recognizes the difficult situation that we, as a humanity, currently find ourselves in on this earth. There is a need for us, both individually and collectively, to get our bearings and reorient ourselves so that we can have an improved situation on this globe. There is the distinct recognition that each person must show individual responsibility as it pertains to their own personal growth. When we, personally, are on good footing then we are in a better position to help others. In this way, we work to improve ourselves and those around us, which, in time, will spread to others and helps to improve our overall situation on earth as a people. This good footing we need as individuals can be had by knowing that there is “A Bigger Picture” of which we are all a part.
“The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
