Summary

Kids love the ocean - it’s mysterious and unknown, home to monsters of the imagination and some of the most fascinating life forms on the planet.

But while many grown-ups might love being by or on the sea, how much do we actually know about the world beneath the waves?

In this follow-up to A Grown-Up Guide to Dinosaurs, evolutionary biologist, Professor Ben Garrod, takes the listener on an oceanic journey from the beginning of life on Earth to the present day, discovering what the ocean actually is and why it’s so important in the evolutionary history of life.

Very interesting and well read, I learned a lot about a subject that I hadn’t previously thought much about.

Science for everyone!

If you have ever had more than a passing interest in the ocean then you will be utterly amazed by the splendour and wonder!

If that sparks an enquiry into the deeper meanings and science of the sea then this is for you.

Professor Ben Garrod explains deftly and openly the deeper science of the sea. From the sparks of life to development of mammals, he explains in a welcoming and friendly style the science of the ocean.

This is an openly accessible podcast that will interest anyone, not just academics or oceanographers but anyone who has ever dipped their toes in the shoreline and thought it wonder what’s going on out there!’

An absolute must listen!

Enjoyable

The second series I have listened to from Prof Ben Garrod, very enjoyable and entertaining look at the oceans. From early history to understanding fish and their ability to remember and learn. Fascinating. I would recommend highly.

Enjoyable and educational

Excellent series - listened to it all in one sitting. Easy to understand for a lay-person without being patronising.

Not quite what I expected

'Sequel' to the Dinosaur version but unlike that one, that talks about different species of Dinosaur.
You'd expect the same here talking about animals in the sea but no, it does touch on a few species but instead talks abit about everything to do with the ocean, including global warming.
That being said, it's still an interesting listen.
