Summary

The worldwide bestseller, over half a million copies sold. A Nearly Normal Family is the stunning psychological thriller from M. T. Edvardsson, which asks what would a parent do if their child was suspected of murder, and just how far they’d go to protect them . . .

'A deceptive and riveting novel' – Karin Slaughter, author of Girl, Forgotten

One night, eighteen-year-old Stella comes home late. The next morning she is accused of murder.

As parents Adam and Ulrika deal with the fallout and try to protect their daughter, they must search out the truth – but how much do they really know about their daughter?

Told from three viewpoints – father, mother and daughter – but who is telling the truth? Perfect for fans of A. J. Finn’s The Woman in the Window or J. P. Delaney’s The Girl Before.

'An absolutely fantastic read' – Jo Spain, author of Don't Look Back

'An utterly compelling premise . . . a layered, intelligent novel' – Fiona Cummins, author of Into the Dark

'A canny, intensely suspenseful legal thriller' – Scott Turow, author of Suspect

'I couldn't go to bed until I finished it. Effortlessly brilliant' – Sandie Jones, author of The Other Woman

'I couldn't put it down' – Michelle Frances, author of The Girlfriend

'An unsettling page turner. Highly Recommended' – Adam Hamdy, author of White Fire

Everyone has a nearly normal family.

I loved this book.
It is in 4 sections with different narrators and differing viewpoints and no one knows what the others know. And we don't know quite everything at the end. But we can guess.
When the first narrator finished I was shouting no because I wanted them to continue but within minutes I was enthralled by the next narrator.
I listened to this in the car and sat outside the house, not wanting to stop listening.
I would recommend this book wholeheartedly and I am now looking for more books by M.T. Edwardsson.

SO thought provoking

This book has succeeded in turning a lot of my views on right and wrong upside down. Brilliant plot, superbly constructed and the legalities are really well explained (especially useful for non Swedish readers!)Above and beyond that, the character of Stella is superb and brings comedic moments to an otherwise potentially grim narrative. Really good on the meaning of family too, as a mum I so identified with Ulrika. The character of Adam is less easy to like but I guess that’s intended. Along with this, the narration by both Emily Watson and Georgia Maguire is truly flawless, but found Richard Armitage on the ponderous side; still can’t decide if that was just really good acting! Cries out to be televised!

Wow

I really enjoyed listening to this. The narrators were all very true to their characters. The story is very different to normal Thrillers, but GOOD different. Thought provoking and exciting. Will definitely be checking M.T Edvardsson books in future. Highly recommend ✌️

Blown away

This was excellent in every way. Told first by the father, a church of Sweden pastor, then the accused daughter and finally the mother, a high flying attorney. Excellent narration by some of my favourite narrators. This book makes you think about what you would do in same situation. Brilliant book.

It didn’t thrill

The book was good, it was well written and the narration was great. It just dragged a bit, was longer than necessary and didn’t pop at the end in the way I love a thriller to. I don’t ‘not’ recommend it, but it isn’t memorable either.

Really good

The male narrator drove me crazy. Perhaps it’s his character. Otherwise an excellent listen. I recommend
