Summary
Before you understand it's happening, obsession takes hold.
Judd Farnon had no choice but to risk death in escaping prison. If he stayed, he was a dead man.
An old boarding house where if you are honest, no questions are asked offers him the start of a new life.
While trying to forget his past and the events that put him in jail in the first place, Judd finds more and more people are showing up in his room at the boarding house claiming it as their own. If this wasn't odd enough, the town itself has a tragic history, and a street of open-air jail cells does not sit well with a former convict.
When a murder is committed, all eyes fall on him.
And yet, Judd can't bring himself to leave. But why?
If you love atmospheric horror tinged with dread, you'll love A Shaded Room.
Get it now...but don't stay too long!

Expertly written!
This is a story that holds your attention from start to finish. The twists and turns held me captive and at times I felt myself yelling at Judd to watch out! The narrator is perfect as he holds the listener in breathless anticipation of what's coming! Highly recommended!

Interesting story narration a little monotone
An interesting well written story, Although it is listed as a horror novel it is much more a tale of choices and consequences with a supernatural edge. An escaped prisoner moves into a strange room, in a strange boarding house, in a strange town. The start is good, the escape was well done and it builds a good tension with all the unusual events that happen. I liked the idea and the story. The narration is good if a little monotone which detracts a little from the tension in the story. Not the authors best but it is still a very good tale. Good story but awful narrator
I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review. Let me start by saying that this was one of the worst narrators I’ve heard. His lack of emotion doesn’t do the story justice. This is a great story about our decisions and how our actions catch up with us. It’s dark and atmospheric, a good horror story but just sadly let down by the flat narrator
