About this listen

It’s Sarah and her brother against the world…

When Sarah Jepson’s mother Annie dies, Sarah is left with her little brother Tommy to care for. Alone in the world, the two of them must make a life for themselves in the wake of the terrible upbringing they have endured.

But when Tommy is struck down by illness, Sarah’s new life collapses. Lost in grief, she turns to the handsome Roger to save her – only to find that he is not who he seems…

Waiting in the wings is George – kind, but brutally scarred, Sarah’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. But could all that be about to change?

The Sunday Times bestseller is back in a heartbreaking, moving tale of triumph against all the odds.

Definitely worth a listen!

Tragedy, love, and a frustrating wait for the last minute consensus ending. Perfect for the genre!Well written and narrated to boot.

Brilliant

Absolutely fabulous. I enjoyed this book from the beginning and right through to the end. I won’t give away too much but all I will say is make sure you have a box of tissues ready. I got through nearly a box at various points in the story and it is told so well by the narrator that you actually feel you are with the characters in the book. One of the best books in my genre that I have read this year.
