Summary

What if you knew an entire race of people was being systematically slaughtered but had to cover it up?

Fake news. Alternative facts. Truth, lies, damn lies, and statistics. Just who are we to believe? In this near-future dystopian thriller, that will be the United Nations Police “moderators”.

Thirty-year-old UNPOL officer Richard Warren has been embedded with the BBC, and not seeing eye-to-eye with journalist Sarah Dyer is just the start of his problems. News of an Ebola pandemic is being withheld, and when it’s discovered Sarah’s artistic savant brother is involved, Richard’s determination to get to the truth takes an unexpected turn. But what if the truth must never be known?

And Richard thought Sarah was a challenge. The very concept of right and wrong is about to be tested and in a way that’s going to make fake news look like quality journalism.

“There’s no such thing as good or evil, only human nature”

I simply cannot put these books down once I press play. I’ve listened to this in one session and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
It’s not particularly fast paced, nor full of action, but there’s a sense of tension throughout that just keeps you gripped!
I can’t wait for Alec’s next release!
Jonathan does another excellent job with narration; simply one of the best narrators out there, he doesn’t put a foot wrong!
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

You see, you've united the world already.

With Alt.Truths twisting and turning through so many ideas, it is hard to even begin a synopsis. So I won't, beyond saying that although travelling to other parts of the world, much of the action takes place in my home county, Cornwall, and one of the two main protagonists comes from a family with an history of anti nuclear demonstrations dating back to the original CND (yes, I was there, too), plus my son is autistic. I did start to wonder if someone was peeking into my life!

But there the similarities definitely stopped. An American-ex soldier working for the UN, embedded with the BBC, a self professed witch, a father who hordes ancient cars and military paraphernalia in his garden, love potions, Ebola, a group of young autistic savants, King George (!), the U.S.President and most any other ruler of any worth. And then there are submarines, soldiers, railway trains, war...
Like I said, too much for an easy synopsis. Better to just read the book.
Oh, did I mention that, as well as raising many questions and posing various ideas, it was funny? Really funny. Great characters. Crazy, yes. And funny.
And expertly narrated by the marvellous Jonathan Keeble.

This is a great read, like Ben Elton on steroids. I was really fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy by the rights holder, at my request. Thank you so much. I loved it and recommend it to - well, just about anyone, really
