Critic reviews

"Binge has written a profound and elegiac story that examines science, faith and the concept of humanity itself – what it means to live and die, to yearn and strive, and all the spaces in between. I will be thinking about this one for a long time!" (Sunyi Dean, Sunday Times bestselling author of The Book Eaters)

"Both the science and the suspense are perfection, all held together by a robust emotional core. I enjoyed it immensely." (Tade Thompson, award-winning author of Rosewater and Far from The Light of Heaven)

The story climbs and ends at the end of the climb.

The story is a challenge for a team to climb a mountain with the addition of some philosophy, ethics and quantum physics thrown in for good measure.

When up is down

The best way to describe this is a modern scfi take on HP Lovecraft. I enjoyed the story a lot, finding it interesting and full of emotional depth. Some excellent character development that really made the characters feel alive to me.

Narrators performance was excellent, really brought the characters to life for me.

Original

Extremely original would love more descriptions of the environment I found I didn’t care about the characters I didn’t invest .. that being said the originality of the story with the conclusion makes up for it I’ll define read other books from the author

Excellent

Great story highly recommended. It’s a mixture of sci-fi and horror , as a few scientists climb up a mountain that suddenly appeared in the ocean. They find themselves going crazy and time starts behaving strangely.

A real gem of a good read

l loved this book, It's about a mountain but actually is a book with great depth too!. l would have liked more description of the environment but the story has an allegorical aspect so it wasn't so important that it ruined the story. Faultless narration, perfect for the story

Thought provoking and captivating

Narrator was amazing - really gave the right feel to the story.

Story itself was something new, never stopped to be interesting and surprise. Good ending. Thought provoking book. I liked it. Would recommend.

In some reviews or in the book description it might feel that the book will be boring - just a description of people ascending one mountain - but it definitely is not so simple in any way! Don't be averted by that.

“Arrival” on steroids

Excellent spin on the sci-fi genre you’d know from
The 70s and 80s. I loved the protagonist’s backstory and all the iconography that foreshadows or refers back to elements in the narration.
The narrator did a great job at varying all those voices, though I would say the American accent might need a little sprucing up. :)
