Critic reviews

"[Suzy] Jackson narrates with verve and also conveys a folksy quality in Bibi's dialogue with friends, her parents, and her boyfriend, a Navy SEAL. With dramatic flair, Jackson collapses the distance between the protagonist and listeners. Her deliberate pacing and Koontz's inventiveness as a storyteller are a terrific pairing." (AudioFile)

Done.

I do like a fair few Koontz books but not this one.
It wasn't awful but it was fairly tedious and very drawn out.
I haven't read all his books so I can't say with any real certainty but all the ones with more than a casual mention of surfing seem to be.......meh.

It's not often...

I give up on a book, but seriously I have listened to the first half and couldn't tell you anything about it. It has literally gone in one ear and out the other, sorry.

Not for me

I could not enjoy this book beyond the first few chapters. BiBi’s “miracle recovery” from brain cancer stretched my suspension of disbelief a step too far and I pretty much gave up.
The idea of a fine line between imagination and reality may entertain some - but as I work with people with brain disorders (including delusions Confabulations and tumours) it just irritated me.
