Summary
With the Earth on the brink of complete annihilation, Carla joins a group of engineers and builder-robots in a race to complete the lunar colony of Asteria. Unwittingly, she unveils a dark secret that threatens not only to cause yet more civil unrest and test the morals of society back on Earth, but also threatens the continuation of the human species itself. Meh
This was unremarkable, unfortunately. It was a short and quick listen with lots of political stuff and some conspiracy. The main problem would be that it look like every other novel of the genre.
The narration is pretty good, I would listen to her again.

Great speculative tale of human expansion.
Really enjoyed this story, Very well read by the narrator.
It is very much in the style of Ben Bova and his Grand Tour series - with little sprinkles of Asimov and Kim Stanley Robinson in between.
Carla (a bot-coder and tech) finds herself transported to the Asteria colony on the moon leaving behind an Earth that is in turmoil. The president is a dictator and has conquered most of the globe, He has scoured Earth both for its natural riches, coveting its resources, and exploiting the lower classes. Possibly an allegory as to what might be happening in the 21st Century in terms of global warming, pandemics and economic collapse. The story is set in the late 2060s, a century after the moon landings,
Carla and her tech friends then find themselves embroiled in a resurrection, and become targets of the President's wrath. The story leads to a challenge to the existing world order. With the help of a robot called Jerry and a bit of programming luck our hero sets a new course for human future and challenges the President on many levels. I don't want to spoil the story, so ill pause with the plot points there.
The audio book contains an alternate ending which is as good as the original. It comes in at around two hours in all which makes it a novella length listen.
Lets have some more novel length tales in this universe please David, as I wanted more!

Good story
This was a good little story for a micro it surprisingly had a lot of depth. Definitely worth a listen. The narration was ok.

Nice Little Story
This was a nice little story nicely narrated too which helped the pace of the story keep going until the finale. I wish it carried on and there was more, I’d definitely listen to more from the author.
