About this listen
Ilea likes punching things. And eating.
Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially—a fate worse than death.
So maybe it's lucky that she wakes up one day in a strange world where a bunch of fantasy monsters are trying to kill her?
On the bright side, "killing those monsters right back" is now a viable career path! For she soon discovers her new home runs on a set of game-like rules that will allow her to punch things harder than in her wildest dreams. Well, maybe not her wildest dreams, but it’s close.
With no quest to follow, no guide to show her the way, and no real desire to be a Hero—Ilea embarks on a journey to discover a world full of magic. Magic she can use to fight even bigger monsters.
She’s struggling to survive, has no idea what will happen next, and is loving every minute of it. Except, and sometimes also, when she’s poisoned and/or has set herself on fire. It’s complicated.
Listen to the story that took Royal Road by storm with more than 60 million views and counting.

A great read, worth every [Insert Currency]
The main character may seem op but you soon mearn that power need to be earned and that just because you are powerful and can save yourself, doesn't equal you being able to save others.

Another diamond in the rough from royal road!
I like these isekai novels that keep coming out of royal road and being refined for Amazon. I’ve listened to all of he who fights with monsters and this story has some of the same vibes. Hopefully there’s more to come but it’s well worth the credit.

Enjoyable
Look forward to Book Two - would like to see where the story will develop. Good to see a character who develops so impressively in book one - and a heroine with a good punch and kick, who embraces adventuring but starts as a healer, is promising. What I like most, however, is that she uses every opportunity to get levelling experience. The narrator’s voice is perfect for the character when crude or polite, extremely well read, she brings all the characters to life

A nice and easy absorbing read
It is a little single lens focused at times but an engaging read all the same with an uncompromising strong female lead which is always a joy. Nice to have a woman enjoy fighting for fightings sake with the bonus of a little justice and protective healing on the side. But she likes getting bloody and makes zero apology for it - true to herself and not any social norms. Nice story telling and fairly rich character development - some
perhaps a little two dimensional but perhaps they have to be so they don’t detract from the many that are more complex.

Great story and great characters
I loved the story, the world is exciting and you want to explore it. The characters are great and the narrator is phenomenal. Sometimes the switches between fun and serious isnt all that smooth, but it dosnt really matter.

excellent litrpg
I could not stop wanting to rrad/ listen to more. the leveling system is not ridiculously complicated or overpowered. But obviously the protagonist is better than your average bear...

amazing narrator
very immersive narrator, I'd rate performance above 5* if possible, but the story was also very good, so double 5 it is

DING! This is just a power fantasy.
On a scale of 1-10 I rate it a 5.5. Not the worst but could be much better. Will try one more book to see if the author gets better. Despite my review seeming negative I did enjoy it somewhat.
Have been debating grabbing this book for a while now and finally decided to give it a go while I wait for other series to come out with new stuff. That said there isn't too much to talk about as I can say with utmost confidence this book is purely for power fantasy and not much else. It's not terrible, though I've a few gripes, but it's not amazing either.
There isn't really a story or plot, it's just one fight after another while making rapid progression. Illea gets a super OP forgotten class and wins nearly all fights by simply face tanking and self healing. Many things can be patched over by saying "because magic" and, despite this being a world where people can level to things like 300+, I still can't fully get a grip on power scales. That being due to the fact that everyone and everything is either stupidly strong or stupidly weak compared to her.
My only true complaint is toward the author for putting in so many God forsaken DING! Blah blah blahs rather than just bundling up the notifications all at once. If Ilea level ups 5 times you hear "DING! You have reached level XYZ, 5 stat points awarded" FIVE TIMES BACK TO BACK, on-top of any DING! for skills that level. On that note the VAs "system" voice grated my nerves heavily and I skipped a large chunk of info because I couldn't take it.
