About this listen
All across London, billionaires receive an emergency alert from specialist extraction company B of the Bang. A nuclear missile is inbound, and society's elite have less than 70 minutes to reach the bunkers. As they head for the exits, it's your fault if you get in the way.
From the best-selling indie author of the modern classic Before and After, B of the Bang is a satire of wealth, power, lobsters, inequality, and why you shouldn't flush wet wipes down the toilet.

Safety Lobsters, BDSM PMs and Trickle-Down Economics - OH MY!
Wow.
I'm a big fan of this author's work, having read his Before and After duology, but this blew me away (pun only sort of intended).
The satirical comedy is just ridiculous enough to seem absurd but also, unfortunately, realistic enough that, given the state of the world as is, it isn't unrelatable. The depth of the characters is amazing considering there are so many of them - Shanahan has written them all so well that you find yourself really rooting for them, or not as the case may be. I know of a few writers who can't manage anything more than 2D personalities with a smaller cast than BOTB.
There are twists and turns that really keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think one thing is wrapped up, another comes along and rips it open again! Each way is so refreshingly apart from the last that the dead horse isn't being beaten within an inch of its afterlife but rather Frankensteined back to life before being slaughtered all over again in a different way every time - thoroughly enjoyable.
The performance by Chris is, once again, fantastic as he manages to capture each character's voice perfectly. I don't think anyone could have done a better job.
I look forward to more from both author and narrator in the future!
