Having a schedule all starts at home and it was very important that women who had parents come over from the old country learned and developed those skills at a young age. It was not a gray area when it came to routine and the Italian stay at home wives were serious about this.

Competition between sisters.

Monday laundry-hung outside, clothes props, splinters and rope burn

Tuesday second floor-fresh bed linen, snooping in drawers while putting clothes away, clean bathrooms with Spic and span, always did the windows (climb outside to do both sides)

Wednesday first floor- clean the kitchen even though it was already been scrubbed down after each use, then onto the living room vacuum everything from couch to baseboards, even dusting curtains.

Thursday grocery day- time to get out of the house and hit every grocery store in the tristate area to get the best deals. Every possible generic brand is bought except when it came to sauce.

Friday grandma day- clean her house, take her shopping or a trip to the downtown and go into every store again looking for those bargains.
