Much needed caregiving information
Dementia Caregiving Companion, to me, was a powerful audiobook to listen to as I found my mind wondering how I would react and manage if and when I am faced with this situation. Knowing that one day I will have to at least perform an assistant role as a caregiver, I feel the book provided me both insight and a plan for when that day comes.
I felt the best portion of the book for me was the chapters on communication, and what to expect from an Alzheimer patient and what kinds of communication I should use when handling the patient. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to learn more.

A WONDER BOOK
This book is incredibly moving, drawing out deep emotions as it delves into the realities of dementia. As a mental health professional with both clinical and personal experience in this area, I found it especially resonant. The story of Evie and Maria brings everything to life, offering raw honesty that makes this book impactful and relatable. It’s filled with valuable information for anyone managing dementia, including non-pharmacological therapies like Cognitive Stimulation and Reminiscence Therapy—practical, effective tools for treatment. The section on clinical trials introduces a sense of hope, and the "Caregiver’s Corner" is a thoughtful addition, offering reflection points, resources, and reminders on self-care for caregivers. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone caring for a loved one with dementia.

This author has thought of everything
I have to say, this audiobook really touched my heart. It's so difficult to care for a family member who has dementia, and this audiobook is so compassionate in its message. The author explains the different types of dementia as well as what you can expect as the condition progresses. He provides some very helpful recommendations for those who are caring for their loved one on their own and gives great advice about how to know when you may be getting burned out and what you should do in that case. He discusses different options for outside care, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and even discusses the types of insurance that cover this care and the ones that don't so you have a chance to prepare for this. But what really got me is the stories. I couldn't help but feel emotional while listening to them, but they were so valuable because they are provided to show you how people have been able to make it through this challenging time. If you are caring for a loved one who has dementia and feel overwhelmed, I think you'll really find a lot of help and great information in this audiobook.
