Intros- what was the best sports year of your life…. Meaning all your teams did well/exceeded expectations/or just plain exciting. All sports….
05-07- Patriots won Super Bowl, Red Sox had just won the World Series on 04, gators were on top in both basketball and Football. Even the Celtics were getting ready to win the NBA championship in 2008.
Top 12 poll from Tuesday Night
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Miami
4. BYU
5. Texas
6. Ohio State
7. Tennessee
8. Penn State
9. Indiana
10. Notre Dame
11. Alabama
12. Boise State
What if Scenario:
1. What if SMU wins out, and beats Miami in the ACC championship?
2. What if Iowa State wins out and plays undefeated BYU and wins the Big12 championship?
3. I see 4 1 loss big ten teams going into December. Ohio State rematches Oregon in the Big Championship and loses. We are seriously looking a 4 big 10 teams then. If OSU loses to Oregon, do they just get dropped to a 10 seed? Still 4 in the playoff
Last weeks games
1. Florida vs Georgia- sadly I had to watch the gators season go down in flames as DJ Lagway’s injury is likely season ending. Florida led at the half off of 3 interceptions, and capitalizing on them. But you can see the defense and offense change once Lagway left the game. They still wanted to win, but there was doubt. With Lagway in there was no doubt. Georgia has some problems to deal with on offense and defense if they want to win a Natty.
2. South Carolina vs Texas A&M- game of the week in my opinion. Texas A&M just never figured out this Gamecocks defense. They were all over TAMU’s Qb, and the Tamu defense could not seem to tackle these Gamecock receivers and Sellers.
3. Clemson loss to Louisville- Louisville pounced on these tigers on Saturday. going up 26-7 by the end of Q3. The quick Louisville offense really threw the Clemson defense for a loop.
4. Oregon beats Michigan - last week Mt Man said that of the 110,000 people in the stadium none could play Qb. Clearly the only one who could play Qb last week was Dillon Gabriel. 294 yards passing, clean football by Oregon over all. Those 110k fans did not affect Oregon at all. 2 five yard penalties, 10/15 on 3rd down. This crowd was silenced by Q2, and probably leaving by mid-q3.
5. Penn State loss to Ohio State- sort of a defensive battle between these two teams on Saturday. The coaches both trashed for never winning the big game. Ryan Day comes out on top. Still some weakness around Ohio State, but the oline showed some
Questions of the week
1. Does anyone feel like depth has been reduced on teams causing more parody in the SEC and Big10 and elsewhere?
2.
Games of the Week 11
1. #20 Colorado at Texas Tech- coach prime is going into this game at 6-2 coming off a bye week. Texas Tech is 6-3. Colorado is favored by 3
2. #19 Clemson at Virginia Tech- after last weeks performance I suspect Clemson got a second wake up call for the season. Virginia Tech was looked at as a potential threat in the ACC this season,
3. Michigan at #8 Indiana- Michigan has had 1 win in 4 weeks. They are still working out the QB problems. Unbeaten Indiana hopes to stay that way. Kurtis Rourke has been exceptional at QB for the Hoosiers. Michigan does not have the defense to keep him out of the end zone.
4. #2 Georgia at #16 Ole Miss- big matchup this weekend. Ole Miss has 2 losses, and they don’t want that 3rd one. A win against Georgia will give the credibility to take a top 12 spot with two losses. Georgia struggled against Florida and Kentucky this season, Will the Jaxon Dart offense be to much for the Georgia Defense?
5. #11 Alabama at #14 LSU- both teams are 6-2, both teams have playoff chances on the line here. hey are going to Death Valley at night.
6. #9 BYU at Utah- undefeated BYU looks to keep their record on tarnished. Utah was the powerhouse in the mountains of the Pac 12
7. South Carolina at Vanderbilt - coming off a huge win against Texas A&M last week. The gamecocks certainly want to knock out another ranked opponent
