Summary

Andrea Corr’s Barefoot Pilgrimage is a compelling and honest memoir.

In part, an exercise in coming to terms with and making sense of life and mortality following the loss of a beloved father; in part, a reflection on an unlikely journey with her siblings through the music industry; in part, a meditation on family, on music, and on creativity; and, in part, a shout-out for love and for hope.

Illustrated with personal photographs and with original poems interspersed throughout the text, this is a very personal – at times very funny, at times deeply moving – book from an iconic figure in popular music.

Excellent autobiography

It was very beautiful to hear the biography told by the author, Andrea is an excellent narrator.
I felt like she was telling me about her life directly to me, her story felt so close to me although I never met her. I found myself many times I smiling or sad but this is life and hers was full of love.

Really enjoyed the book

This is not a book if you want celebrity gossip. It is rather more about a normal family that manages to then make extraordinary music. For much of the book their lives sound so similar to those of normal people. I enjoyed it.

Brilliantly narrated!

This was a a journey from a start to finish, animated brilliantly. A great story of an ordinary person who experienced an extraordinary life. Bravo. I will re read and re listen!

Not for celebrity gossip - private about her own family

Really loved how Andrea took you on her life journey so far, so hilarious at parts and deeply sad at others.

Not going to lie I did have my own rather daft expectations it would be about meeting her hubby and more details on that but loved this so much - thanks

Beautiful

As a fan of Andrea’s since I was about 14 I’m so glad I listened to her read it. I’ve laughed and cried. Some things I knew well and some I was in shock to hear. I love her like family. Even if you didn’t grow up wanting to be Andrea Corr like me this book is beautiful, and hurts your heart in places.

Beautifully spoken words from Andrea

I have loved this lady from being a boy, having her speak these words is like a reunion, like how have you been getting on Andrea!

Mummy I think Michael Jackson has got the hiccups.

Beautiful, the 1st book I’ve read after the death.

The first book I’ve read since the death of my mum 6 weeks ago.

At times incredibly upsetting, balanced with some lovely stories.

I enjoyed it alot.

Very good

Perhaps better to read a physical copy as its quiet a poetic book and I wonder if some of that gets lost when listening, even though it's beautifully read by Andrea Corr.
