Summary
A friends to lovers rock star romance.
Bandmates and best friends since they were teens, Jeremy Kagan and Alan Delgado share everything - including men. Their brotherly bond was shattered during one incident of mistaken identity in a darkened bedroom when a line was crossed. With boundaries broken and the line of friendship blurred, they struggle to move forward.
For Jeremy, that night was a dream come true. He had been in love with Alan for a decade but had been too afraid to bare his heart and reveal his true feelings. Now that the opportunity has presented itself, he’s ready to seize the moment. This is his one chance to be with the only man he’s ever loved.
Alan, on the other hand, isn’t dealing with the incident so well. A lot of monumental achievements have occurred in his life, but none were as life altering as a single erotic encounter with his best friend. The usual fun-loving camaraderie he and Jeremy had always shared is now awkward and uncomfortable.
Unable to shed the memory of their rendezvous, Alan starts to look at Jeremy in a new light. Transitioning from bromance to romance isn't as easy as expected, especially since Alan isn’t ready to share their newfound bond with anyone else. Stress from keeping their relationship a secret turns explosive as these two battle their passion in private. Now they need to figure out if it’s worth risking everything, including their friendship, in order to pursue a future together as a couple.

Great rock star romance
"Bassist with Benefits" is already my second book from the Bulletproof series and I was already very excited about the story of Jeremy and Alan. These two have known each other since childhood and are best friends. They are together in the very successful band Bulletproof and really let it rip. Sex, drugs, parties, success, but also adrenaline rush is part of their life and in addition a wonderful friendship.
Until one evening Jeremy and Alan have sex with each other rather by chance. Jeremy has fallen in love with Alan. But how do the two deal with it? Difficulties are inevitable and there is no guarantee whether a love affair between the two would work. And putting a lifelong friendship on the line isn't an option either.
I found myself rooting for Jeremy and Alan. The book was a roller coaster of emotions, which the author expressed very well.
Over all, she described band life realistically and it was a lot of fun to follow the band Bulletproof. What I found very nice was the deep friendship of the band members, who always stand up for each other. You just have to like Alan and Jeremy. But does their love have a chance?
Besides romance and sex, there was also a good portion of tension. The theme of best friends to lovers Jenna Galicki has implemented absolutely super. You could feel the love, the hope, but also the despair and indecision directly.
I didn't know the narrator Klaus von Hohenloe before, but he did a great job bringing the story of Bulletproof to life. He gave different voices to the protagonists and his narrtion was quite entertaining. I only increased the speed to 1.15.
Another great book about the band Bulletproof, of which I have become a real fan. But that is also due to the great writing style of the author, who captivated me with her story from the beginning, as she did with volume 4.

Entertaining best friends to lover story
Classic best friends story, with one (Jeremy) in love with the other (Alan). l enjoyed the story, especially seeing some of the coupled up band members (it works well as a standalone too). This is a story about rockstars, so there are scenes with groupies, drug use, but there's a romance buried under all the hectic Rockstar lifestyle. There are flashes of humour between the band members, their friendship a good part of the whole story. Overall, it's another good addition to the series.
The audio was good, I've listened to the narrator before (he voiced another band MM story). I enjoyed his pacing and most of the character voices. It's a good way to enjoy the story.
