Impossible to put down!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is an amazing story of success against all the odds, most things thrown in Karen's way created an uphill struggle for her but not despite but because of this she had the determination to get past all the barriers life has put in her way. It is difficult to put the book down, you just keep wanting more.The open honesty, the revelations and the feeling that you were able to look at Karen's soul makes this a book well worth reading
What was one of the most memorable moments of Beaten but Unbowed?
I guess the end of the book, Karen has succeeded where many would fail, but somehow you were hoping for a happy ending, a solution. But there isn't one for Bi-polar, just containment. The challenges continue although the book has finished
What does Marilla Wex bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
It felt like you were listening to Karen, not a narrator, the authenticity in her voice brought the book to life. A great book can become a terrible audio book with the wrong voice. Marilla was excellent! Were the accents correct? I don't know and it does not matter. The variation in tone, accent and resonance gave life to every character and every chapter. I would love to listen to more books narrated by Marilla Wex.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Without doubt, although that was not possible, the desire to return asap was always there.

I sincerely hope that this book helps people be more understanding, more open and even more supportive of those who do not fit the mould of what society is expecting, there is no norm and it would be great for that to permeate more of society than it does today. LGBTQ+ physically, mentally or psychologically challenged or just different, everyone is part of our great society, some people need more understanding or support than others.
