Summary

The truth depends on who you ask...

Ten years ago, after a sun-soaked summer spent in Greece, Bess and Joni were cleared of having any involvement in their best friend Evangeline's death. But that didn't stop the media from calling them everything under the sun.

Now Joni is tangled up in a crime in LA eerily similar to that one fateful night, and when she turns up at her old friend's doorstep asking for an alibi, Bess has no choice. She still owes her.

They say the truth will set you free but can Bess face up to what happened that night?
She should know by now. You can't be an innocent woman when everyone wants you to be guilty.

Kept me intrigued

I enjoyed this book. I kept listening expecting more to be revealed. The narration was great. What I kept thinking was ‘What if she’d never told Joni about her planned reunion with Theo?’
It was a sliding doors moment - but it wasn’t ever mentioned.
Strange ending.

The fake British accent

Story is brilliant, engaging, I like the performance overall however as someone from the UK, the fake British accent goes on my nerves. The performance could definitely do without.

Promising but didn’t deliver

I really enjoyed the book but was very disappointed by the rushed ending. Not sure I could recommend it to others

Brilliant Narrator

Some plot holes and a predictable ending which made the conclusion very unsatisfying. Narrator saved the day and enticed me to continue listening.

enjoyed for for the most part, but it didnt really go anywhere

it was an enjoyable story in places. about friendship, and that moment in life where you are just in the edge of breaking out on your own. the imagery of greece was lovely, and the ideas of a media frenzy surrounding a high profile case where big assumptions are made about the women at the centre seems all to realistic. however, the characters fell a little flat for me, and the story never really built up enough to have the impact I was hoping for.

A bit haunting

A good story, kept me listening and guessing about the characters and what they were hiding. The narration was good too. I would recommend a listen.

Long winded…

Took quite a while to get there… story is good if a little predictable. Could do with a bit of an edit. Feels written for TV.

An insight into the complexities of friendships.

I liked the exploration into complex friendship but sometimes found myself irritated by their surrounding.

A story that could be your own…

A story about the kind of friendship we’re lucky to have and never forget. One that both tears you apart and might just be the one of the greatest loves of your life.

a good read but not brilliant

This book was a bit predictable but I still couldn't put it down. I didn't like the ending.
