Summary

He’s been burned by commitment. She can’t seem to find the one. Will the Colorado mountains be their matchmaker?

Cam Blue can’t wait to spend the summer in solitude. After a grueling hockey season, all the sought-after defenseman wants is to retreat to his new ranch and unwind. But when heavy rains strand the guarded man with an attractive neighbor, he feels his frosty heart start to crack.

Terra White worries something is wrong with her. Used to guys who never commit, she’s frustrated when the hunky sports star stays determined to keep his distance despite their bond. And after their time together ends and both return home, she expects never to see him again.

As Cam struggles to date and move past his painful failed marriage, he remembers the ease of his new friendship and reaches out. And though their platonic relationship blossoms through text and late-night calls, Terra fears she’ll never be enough for Cam to cross the line over to love.

Will they put passion on ice, or can they skirt their defenses to find a happily ever after?

Besting the Blueliner is the eighth book in The Playmakers Series of award-winning sports romances. If you like relatable characters, slow-burn connections, and laugh-out-loud moments, then you’ll adore G.K. Brady’s sexy tale.

Forced Proximity

Tara and Cam meet under unusual circumstances, and they have a bit of a tumultuous beginning.
They have chemistry, but they are both a bit stubborn, and judge each other a bit harshly out the gate.
But eventually good manners and chemistry win out. They start out as friends, with some forced proximity pushing some boundaries.

This was full of pushed boundaries, new friendships, overcoming pasts, and a lot of adventures.
Cam is sweet, charming, caring and fun. I love how he adores Tara and wants so much for her.

Tor Thom & Amanda Stribling both did a great job narrating this story and bringing Cam & Tara to life.

Love this series!

These hockey players are so much fun to get to know. Each one has their own personality, but the thing they have in common is their love for the game. This is Cam's story. Off season, he enjoys going to his mountain home to enjoy the quiet, until one day he comes across Terra. Stuck under her ATV, he helps her out and a new friendship is born. But while the attraction is strong, there are obstacles which could place them strictly in the friendzone! Family, work, bad communication, past relationships, it all plays into this thing called life. The question is, will their new budding relationship be able to stand the test? I loved these two. Why? Cam is sweet, a little grumpy and not afraid to go after what he wants. Terra is a bit scared and unsure how to make that family break. It's packed with good hockey fights and spicy nights! I enjoyed this one!

Tor Thom and Amanda Stribling are our story tellers for this and they tell it exactly as it should be! Thom breaks out in the beginning with his grump on, but quickly melts as his feelings for Terra grow. That doesn't stop his hot head from escaping though every once in a while! Terra is sweet and loyal and Stribling brings out her naivete, keeping her passion strong right along with her stubborn streak! These two are fantastic together and made this listen!

4.5 Stars!

Great addition to the series which I’m still loving! 💕

Besting the Blueliner is the eighth book in The Playmakers series. Here we get to see Cam Blue and Terra White find love up in the mountains. Cam Blue loves his alone time. He is a first line defenseman for the Colorado Blizzards and after he helps them win the Stanley Cup, he can’t wait to spend the summer in solitude in the Colorado mountains. But when heavy rains leaves him stranded alongside his attractive neighbour Terra, sparks start to fly!

Cam is feeling conflicting emotions; he is delighted at winning the Stanley Cup, but is also having feelings of sadness and anger at the way his previous marriage ended. So Cam has sworn off women for the foreseeable future. Meanwhile, Terra is taking a much-needed break at her family ranch. Helping in the running of her family business and also feeling suffocated by her overprotective dad and brother is a lot, and is getting to her. Also, been inexperienced with relationships and finding herself in a complicated situationship, she has also sworn off men for the time being and is ready to relax in the mountains. When they find themselves stranded without electricity and little food, they are forced to stay together. This leads to them developing a friendship and later a lot more.

This was such a cute slow-burn romance. Watching Cam and Terra fall for each other was such a joy. I loved seeing both Cam and Terra come out of their shell; Cam, after previously been burned by his ex-wife is finally open to finding love again. Meanwhile, Terra who hasn't had the best record with relationships finds something special with Cam.

This was so much more than a sports romance. I also loved how the author dove into the family details and dynamics. I especially loved seeing the growth that Terra had with the situation between her and her dad and brother. Overall, this was such a joy! I really am loving the series and can’t wait to continue onto the next book!

The audiobook was narrated by Amanda Stribling and Tor Thom. They were a joy to listen to and they made the story even better and brought the characters and story to life!

Can & Terra

I enjoyed everything about this book. It’s characters interactions, it’s low angst, the fault wasn’t all on one person, how quickly things get resolved. The narration is fabulous, I love their characters personalities. I definitely recommend this book/series.

A funny and emotional, heartwarming story

Slow burn romance isn’t something I usually gravitate to (because I have the patience of a toddler) but I really enjoyed this one. I love how the relationship developed between Cam and Terra. It was a very organic transition from friends to lovers. I love how they help each other work through the issues that hold them back from finding love and also how they inspire each other to be the best versions of themselves. It’s a bumpy road, but eventually, they get there.

I love the support that Cam gets from his teammates. That’s one of the reasons I love this series. The players look out for each other. They like to poke fun at each other, but they’re also always there to lend a helping hand. Their partners also form a strong friendship. When a player joins that team, they join a family. It’s really lovely to see.

I really enjoyed the narration of this book. Tor Thom is a narrator I really enjoy listening to and he didn’t disappoint in this performance. He was great as grumpy Cam, sweet, vulnerable Cam and his deep gravely voice was perfect for passionate Cam. This was my first time listening to Amanda Stribling and I really enjoyed her performance. She played the insecure but strong-willed Terra really well. They brought out all the emotions the characters we feeling and made the listening experience very engaging.

This book is great if you like slow burn romance, flawed characters who work on their issues and grow as people, supported by a loyal community, longer stories, banter and emotional moments.

*I received an advanced copy of this book and these opinions are entirely my own.

Beautiful Slow Burn Romance!

This is book 8 in The Playmakers series, a Sports Romance. Cam and Terra's slow burn romance is beautifully written, sweet, and engaging. Cam is grumpy, handsome, and supportive. Terra is beautiful, smart, independent, kind, and sunshine. They are opposites attract, and they are perfect together. I liked the banter, the humor, and the romance. Tor Thom and Amanda Stribling did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Guarding the Crease, the next book in the series.

enemies,to friends to lovers

I am really enjoying this series on Audiobook... Each story is so detailed about the lives of Hockey players. This is Cam's story he was traded to play for the Denver Blizzards and he was trying to find his place within the team. Recently divorced to a superficial woman he is a bit grumpy and prefers his alone time so escapes to his cabin in the Colorado Mountains when Hockey season ends. His dog Grace is his only companion and the only female he trusts after his failed marriage, that is until he hears a cry for help one day. Terra has got herself trapped underneath her Razor and then suddenly a man and his dog rescue her,He is her neighbour and a moody one at that. Fate must have a weird sense of humour because when rain causes a power outtage and closes roads. Cam turns to her to help him and Grace because she has power through a generator,he ends up staying with Terra for days and days. In such close proximity they form a friendship and Terra is comfortable enough to ask Cam to help her be more attractive to men...to show her what men like in the bedroom and give her some experience. Terra just keeps failing at relationships and the man she had in her life at the moment seems to not want to take it further. It doesn't help that she lives with her controlling Father and brother, they are so overprotective. Anyway Terra and Cam cross the line eventually and they passion is combustable, but when Cam goes back home they don't keep in touch. Terra gives her boyfriend another chance and Cam tries to date...But they can't move on from the connection they had with one another at the cabin. Then Cam breaks the silence and contacts Terra..but will Terra choose Cam over her boyfriend or would she give them a chance? ...There is so much going on with this story and I really enjoyed listening to Tor Thom and Amanda Stribling bring these characters to life. They did an AMAZING job portraying all the male and female characters between them, changing the tone of their voices to accomodate each character. I loved their narration. G.K.Brady has created an enthralling world in this series and Cam and Terra fit perfectly into it...I love G.K.Brady's writing it is very thorough and detailed this is a slow burn romance but it is worth the wait .I was captiveted by this audiobook and loved evry secon of listening to it. Fantastic. 5 Stars.
