Should be required reading
This book gives such clear and well organized evidence to show how biases shape our institutions and many Americans' lives. I really appreciated hearing about the solid science behind racial bias, coupled with impactful true stories of the author's and others' experiences. This is such an important work for some many reasons.

Rather USA focused
Generally the book is candid and touches on painful issues with knowledge, wisdom and hope.
I live in Europe and was expecting a more universal story. The book is mostly about black-white relationship in USA.
I was also expecting more explicit advice on what to do. Although I understand that awareness is the first step.
I felt that this more of a call to acknowledge the issue, to open eyes, ears and hearts told through a lense of personal and professional experience.

Author could not move beyond black and white issue
Author could not move beyond black and white racial issue. Bias is much larger issue, expected a wider scope for the book.

A book of 2 halves
There are a couple of things of note about this book. First, I’m note convinced by the narrator, she was the wrong voice (too… sweet, not firm enough for the subject matter.
Second, I think the first half deals more with facts and statistics, rather than feelings), and the book works better in that first section, because it’s so statistically focused.

Good and covers many racial issues
Some of the reflections within this book are not needed and almost don’t fit, the studies listed and real world implication summaries were very good. The author does reflect her own bias within the topics. Readers should use this as one source of many regarding bias
