Summary

Few people survive the suffering that Kael Symes has experienced. Hot steel, demonic magic, and the loss of those he loved.

After escaping the horrors of Arkum Zul, Kael and his companions survive a terror-filled night on the ocean only to find themselves shipwrecked and stranded in the Wildlands. With forest tribals on the warpath and old enemies roaming the forest, Kael struggles to come to terms with what he is slowly becoming - a killer. A DeathWizard.

In the fight against the evil that threatens to consume him, Kael learns that the Dwarven Mountains far to the north may hide an ancient monolith that holds the answer to the corruption that flows in his veins.

But trekking across Talohna is a dangerous prospect. It is a world that holds its secrets close. The cost of uncovering them may very well be his soul and quite possibly his life.

Great author, great narrator...

The story is building to a great climax, I'm looking forward to the third book in the series.

Another good instalment

Carried on nicely where the first book left off, some clearly signalled and some unexpected plot twists leave me eagerly waiting for the next book

Very good continuation

I gave book 1 a five star rating, as it blasted out of the gates, having lots of great fantasy elements along with a story that you don't want to stop reading. Book 2 drops just a bit for me, as it meanders at times, and introduces some new characters that frankly we don't care much about at this point. However, the main group of characters' interactions, reactions, and travels thru the fantasy world are still fantastic to listen to. Looking forward to continuing the series.

One of my fav series right now

so Good, hopefully the next one is coming soon. The story progresses at a good pace. Some characters are easy to hate but they make the story more complete

Good story, great performance !!!

The tale moves at a good pace. With it’s twists and turns, It keeps you on your toes joining together the various plots. Really worth a listen. My final point, is about the narrator. Simon Vance makes the story come to life. He is by far one of the best storytellers and definitely worth listening to.
