[In the fifth volume of the series, A Brief History of Napoleon Bonaparte, relive the campaign of Napoleon in Spain. After severe defeats suffered by the French troops in the summer of 1808, Napoleon decided to intervene personally organizing a series of skillful maneuvers that disintegrated the deployment and Spanish smote the main enemy buildups. The emperor was able in this way to conquer Madrid establishing therein French rule. In the final part contains the "Appendices to the Short History of Napoleon Bonaparte": They are given in the documents relating to the correspondence of Napoleon, announcements and proclamations of Murat and the Marquis of La Romana, the dispatch of Wellesley John Frere and the Spanish Constitution of 1812.]
