Fantastic Audiobook
An excellent story of Marina's fishing and non fishing life. The highs and lows. And how they intersect.
The author is highly engaging and has a clear tone. Which always helps.
I'd recommend this book to anyone whether interested in fishing or not. Whatever works to escape the day to day. Walking, swimming, photography, fishing. All have their place.
I look forward to more of her works in whatever medium she decides to use.

Thoroughly honest and intriguing
Loved Marina’s book, it was fascinating to hear all about not only her fishing exploits but also her life growing up and indeed the twists and turns of her life and how they have interacted with her Fishing 🎣 passion. If I were to be critical in anyway (which I’m not) I’d love to have heard more as to where the money comes from to finance all these amazing trips - only reason I say this is because I would love to go on any one of these adventures.

Stick to John Gierach!
I didn’t know anything about the author (I don’t use social media); and I was sorry to hear the abuse that many people (especially women) experience. I’m also sorry (but not surprised) to hear about her experiences of entering a male dominated world. However, she did not endear herself to me, and I much prefer the mature, balanced wisdom of John Gierach.
Nb. I’ve amended this review because audible don’t seem to appreciate more in depth critiques - I won’t waste my time in future.

the authors lack of emotion in her own book
I know the author will just think its another male having a pop but I have two daughters who fly fish and am very happy to see and support women in fishing. However, Marina is very mono tone and with no great emphasis or passion for her own book. there is plenty of complaining about life however, if you really want to learn about a hard life and put passion in your audio books I suggest you listen to Sarah Beeny who could teach you a thing or two and maybe you can teach her husband a bit about flyfishing in return. I got bored with constant moaning about relationships although I am happy it worked out for her in the end. plus if u really want to hear or learn in detail about the life if a salmon I can read it for myself and probably find a more interesting way to express it in my mind. it was so boring, sorry. what would have been good is more information about the fishing itself the interesting people she has met along the way (I know Mr Whitehouse is a fan of hers), I just don't get where the life if a salmon and whining about past relationships and starting up a business is a good listen. you must be passionate about what you do so show it in your expression and relate to your audience. you don't have to try to make people feel sorry for you or big yourself up all the Time. you have succeeded so get the chip off your shoulder about it as you have proved people wrong. have more confidence in yourself and this will shine through. there are some good snippets, funny ones too but instead of making light of them you turn it into, a woe is me, situation. the falling in the river for example for yourself complaining about shivering and cold but then the other lady getting caught changing was amusing. I struggled with this audio book and it's a shame as it could have been so much more interesting, lively and fun to listen too. I hope the next one is much better and more passion comes through about the thing you love a lot in your life. very sad to hear about sedge tho that truly must have been hard.
