About this listen
Lady Catherine Langdon is special, and not because she's the daughter of a duke. She comes from a long line of individuals born with extraordinary gifts, and she is one of the few who has a variation of all three. On the brink of war, she makes a decision that will irrevocably alter the course of her life - love or duty.
Asher Rossington, the marquess of Seabrook, decided at a very early age he would not live an idle life. His father forbade him from being a spy for the crown, but he chose to ignore it. Ash never regretted his choice but wished he could have repaired his relationship with his father before he died. Now, with the fate of the world in turmoil, he has to make another hard decision - remain a spy for king and country or go home and honor his father's title.
The Great War brings Catherine and Asher into each other's lives. Only time will tell if their destiny is to be together or if they will ultimately serve a higher purpose.

A relatable story and good listen.
The is not long story but it's packed with enough action and suspense to make it an interesting read. The relationship between the main characters developed slowly and they had to develop a lot of patience with each other as they were in war period and they both had active parts. So many people died and get life changing injuries in the war, it's heartbreaking, emotional, engaging and relatable.

Enduring love in the time of war
This book is rather thin on the romantic details of a budding relationship. And rightfully so. Our protagonists meet in Paris just before the Great War starts. They discover their feelings for each other in the midst of completing their duties to their country and countrymen, sacrificing almost everything for the war effort. They get married in a similar fashion and are forced to leave the war efforts behind before it has ended. So it comes with no surprise that they struggle a little with the transition between their lives in the midst of war and their lives as civilians. War is cruel and never more so than to the tenderest of hearts.
I enjoyed this book. While I appreciate the lack of romantic detail due to the backdrop of this story, I missed all that detail. The characters are lovely, their connection is deep and their romance is all the more meaningful for it.

Strength of Love and Responsibilities
Lady Catherine and Marquess Ash had met during the war. They got close but never disclosed their feelings until....
A good, short story about a love that happened during the war and the sacrifices made during that time. It also showed the fortitude of the people as well as the responsibilities/priorities first before their inclinations Heart-breaking and warming story. A good look back of history.
