The movie of Children of Blood and Bone is in development at Fox 2000/Temple Hill Productions with the incredible Karen Rosenfelt and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight, Maze Runner, The Fault In Our Stars) producing it.

Wonderful story - horrible narrating
Children of blood and bone was such a captivating story. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and following all of the characters unfold. I can't wait to read the next book.
However, something has to be said for the narrating performance of this story. The entire story happens in West Africa, Nigeria to be exact. The gross mispronounciations of ALL Yoruba words in this book is unacceptable. A lot of the incantation parts of the book had by far lost its meanings. What annoys me most is that publishers would never let English words be bastardised in the same manner and still go ahead with production so why is it acceptable for our stories? Our culture?
Please for the next book, let the narrator get coaching for how to pronounce the words properly so as to better promote the culture and heritage being explored.

Awesome
Completely unpredictable at every turn but gripping. A definite booklist item. Absolutely loved it and would definitely read (or listen to) a sequel.

Love it!
Listened to this as part of my book club’s reading list. Not something I’d normally pick but I absolutely loved it. The performance was spot on and story kept me listening until the end. I’d read another by the same author. And hoping they make this into a movie :)

Black lives DO matter!
A beautiful dedication to needless death. This story is engaging and easy to follow. While much of the Yoruba language and various dialogue was not spoken with enough accuracy, it did not deflect from the action and power of the tale. Compelling and very well told.

Binding and Relatable
This is one of the best new books available. I enjoyed every moment of it. And the performance of the vocal artist added beautifully to the story

Strong and Brave
I heard about this book from social media. I have seen many a bookstagram post with this gorgeous cover and so with the 2nd book recently released I thought it was high time I caught up.
The narrator took some getting used to but it was the perfect choice for this book. The accent really makes you feel like you are in a faraway land. This really helps you to believe that anything is possible including magic.
The story is told from three POV. Zélie , Amari and Inan.
Zélie is a bit of an underdog but she is easy to root for. She has been through so much before this book even begins and by the end, I honestly do not know how she kept going. She is one strong and brave woman.
Talking of strong and brave women this book is full of them. From Zélie and Amari to Zu this book was full of strong women. If you need some real feisty females to take inspiration from then look no further than this story. I won't say they are perfect because no one is but there are a lot of things to learn from these women.
There are lots of twists and turns in this story along with characters who are constantly battling with not only each other but themselves.
I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to listening to book 2 shortly.
