About this listen

Cora's a young girl with two dreams: to be a dragon jockey when she grows up and to own a pet dragon now. She constantly buys "egg packs" at the dragon emporium in hopes that one will hatch into a rare pet-sized dragon, but only gets short-lived mayflies. However, when an unexpected egg does develop into something new, Cora may be over her head.

Pleasant

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a pleasant enough middle school book about childhood dreams. It had a nice message, but it could be a little boring at times.

What kid doesn't want a pet Dragon?

H L Burke did a fantastic job of writing this from a child's point of view the quote "Out of the mouths of babes comes to mind". Ok firstly let me tell you the basic framework of the story:In Cora's world Dragons are as cats and dogs are to us.Beloved louse pets. The larger Dragons are taking up the roles that horses play in our lives and Cora...Cora wants nothing more than to have her very own pet dragon !She wants to be dragon rider when she is alll growed ups but for now,now she wants a pet dragon. So Cora tries with the eggs she buys ,unfortunately all she is getting are mayfly dragons which I'm sure you can guess from the name are very small and short lived. The dragon eggs ae sold by the adults to the rich to try to limit if not abolish dragons in the wild. When Cora is faced with her hearts desire,a dragon of her very own, she begins to realize that what the adults have been doing is wrong and that people shouldn't own dragons they should be wild and free.Cora is as much her dragons human as her dragon is her dragon. With this realization comes a falling out with her father.I loved this book I have listened to it 4 or 5 times I put it on when I babysit as a bedtime story .Big mistake the first time but after they had heard it once they felt safe and always wanted it when they went to sleep. My friend who I babysit for has bought it and said they listen every night .Sheri Sheridan did a superb job of bringing the pages of wonder, fantasy and heartwarming creativity to life.I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This review,as always , is my honest opinion.Beautiful.
