Absolutely fantastic as are all Karen's books. Very easy read, got lost in the characters from page 1.

True to life
So down to earth of a time not long ago, the sayings the familiar landmarks. You get so engrossed in the characters and visualise the story.

Great story, narrator annoying
The whiny voice of the young girls made them sound about 10, terrible. Get Emma Gregory back

I’m a fan!!!
This is my second Karen Woods novel and I am loving every word. She deserves all her success and is a truly gifted and courageous storyteller.
I really enjoy the narration on her audiobooks - Stewart Crank makes all the characters blaze with life.

Family drama
I liked the honesty of the characters and how the woman cope with the life they lead in spite of the violent home life the endured.

Glad l didnt waste a credit......
This was ok for a freebie, but very simplistic. Its a Martina Cole rip-off. Theres a lot of violence against women going on here and the latter part about Kendall writing a book was very far-fetched. I managed to stick it out to the end but it wasnt great.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Perhaps more true to life than many would believe.

Gritty but riveting
Enjoyed the book … loved the story but writing got a little confusing in some parts and a little rambling but that shouldn’t detract from the storyline or stop you from reading … some kids have it so tough and not enough emphasis is placed on the many kids like those in the book living in our cities growing up in dysfunctional families and literally fighting for their survival on all fronts .. we need more of this genre and investment and understanding to support these kids who are largely forgotten and so misunderstood .. we need to listen to them as they are so worthy in my experience and with a little bit of love and support achieve great things and break the cycle they born into
