Summary

It's a crime not to listen to this book
I really enjoyed this book but then again how can you not love a book where a dog writes a best seller in between playing mayor and solving crimes. But the book is so much more and I just loved it. This is book 13 and again the author takes the series in a different direction with an unexpected twist. The mystery was complex and was kind of like peeling an onion with all the different layers and characters involved but it worked and kept me hooked guessing who was or wasn't involved in the murders. It's the kind of story that with so much going on that you can listen to again and again, especially with the humour added in. The characters are a dream team and could grace any Hallmark studio film and actually with the all the gun fights and bombs going of it could be an action blockbuster. This is definitely a book and series that you won't want to miss.
The one case Mac Faraday didn't solve before he retired as a homicide detective was the murder of two cops on there wedding day. With the daughter of the murdered woman getting married herself Mac decides it would be a good opportunity to get the old squad back together with one final chance to solve the murders. With the wedding being hosted in his inherited inn Mac and his step brother, David, are in the perfect place to gather clues. Who was the main victim? Or were they both targets? The popular opinion was a gangster targeted the couple in revenge for arresting his son but Mac isn't so sure especially when he adds in the death of the male victims partner being gunned down a few weeks before the death. Can a cop be responsible? That the same time Mayor Gnarly the German Shepard is facing a hate campaign instigated by his neighbour and her many cats. Busy with the cold case and then a more recent murder David assigns the case to his trusted dispatcher to solve with Archie. Can the two ladies keep the mayor out of trouble?
I liked the narrator. He does some fun accents in this story.
