Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the Booker-longlisted author of A Town Called Solace.

Orphaned young, Kate Morrison was her older brother Matt's protégé, her curious fascination for pond-life fed by his passionate interest in the natural world. Now a zoologist, she can identify organisms under a microscope but seems blind to the tragedy of her own emotional life. She thinks she's outgrown her family, who were once her entire world - but she can't seem to outgrow her childhood or lighten the weight of their mutual past.

Another excellent book by Mary Lawson

This is the second book by Mary Lawson that I have listened to and I wasn't disappointed. I love the way she brings her characters to life and the region of northern Canada that we rarely hear about. Unfortunately the narrator's voice rather irritated me.

I loved Crow Lake. It was beautifully written story in which the author created fascinating characters whom I cared about deeply. Very well narrated. I’m looking forward to reading the author’s other books.

A wonderful listen

This is a carefully composed story of life in pioneering Canada. The characters are a shade less brash than their US counterparts. It is also carefully read with good characterisation of the voices making the come alive. I will listen to some more stories from this author and hope to hear the same narrator.
