Summary

The Warped Scorch is known as the most dangerous area on the continent of Lux for good reason. Ever since a strange meteor hit the land and transformed it into a crystal hellscape, all four bordering nations have been trying to establish a foothold in the extremely dangerous new territory and lay claim to its many treasures.

Cyrus is a crystal gunslinger, one of the individuals that face the horrors of the Scorch on a daily basis in order to make a living. With his trusty ruby repeater and plenty of experience, he is prepared to deal with whatever challenges the strange creatures and deadly environment can throw at him.

Cyrus will soon learn that the true horrors of the Scorch are much more human in nature, and no matter how hard he tries, escaping his past will be nearly impossible.

Captivating Western Fantasy!

A great blend of myth and legend, inventive, well-read, and inspring. A unique world explored and explained piece-by-piece, the characters brought to life excellently by Bellinger. Definitely worth a listen, a story that doesn't outstay its welcome, and leaves you wanting more!

Start of a great adventure...

An enjyable intorduction to what I hope will be an exciting series in this new world. I enjoyed the unvailing of the plot, landsacpe and characters (including what the author might conjur up next to challenge our hero!).

I read the paper book first - a real page turner, and then got the audio book as I wanted to go back the the scorth, and the narrator helped take me back - it's done very well. Good work all!

An exciting first step into a new fantasy world.

The most stand out thing about this novel compared to other entries in contemporary fantasy is it's quickfire "show don't tell" pacing, always making the progression of the story and the action the most important thing which is breath of fresh air while other fantasy novels tend to bombard you with heavy amounts of lore and information. Crystal Gunslinger is a great first novel from the author and i look forward to what comes next in the world of Lux.

A Dangerous and Unique Fantasy World

I was a fan of the printed work so I had to check out the audiobook.
Crystal Gunslinger features a very cool setting that feels very dangerous and unique. Despite its dangers, which you get to find out a lot of in the story, people have managed to make a living here. How they achieved this is another cool aspect of the setting that is fun to explore.
The characters in this story are also really fleshed out. Their are some good depictions of struggle and strong themes like found family which I can relate too. Really want to see where things go next with this cast.
The narration is also solid, Chris Bellinger puts on an appropriate accent for the western theming that suits the tone and has some good dynamisim to his voice and varies it up when tackling different pov characters.
