Summary

Days 5 to 8 is the second audiobook in the Mass Extinction Event series, continuing the story of a worldwide apocalypse seen from the eyes of two very different people in two different parts of the US.

Trapped in a ruined city, Elizabeth and her brother, Henry, try to avoid the dangers that seem to lurk on every street. But even when they manage to get home, they face an entirely different kind of threat. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, Thomas struggles to keep his brother alive. First, though, he needs to find out what happened to his father, and he also has to make a difficult decision about his ailing mother.

An interesting take on the apocalypse

Was struggling with carrying on the book but turns out it’s a slow burner. The characters are a tad unlikeable but they do grow on you. I’m so glad Joseph was introduced. It’s a strange twist but I’m enjoying it.
As for people saying the story is unbelievable….. it’s fiction 🤷🏼‍♀️

I wouldn’t recommend these books, especially on Audible.

I listened to the first book as part of the Plus Catalogue and it was interesting enough that I was intrigued, so decided to carry on with the series.

Here I am multiple credits later only to find that it’s not the 5 book series it looks to be on Audible, but there are THIRTEEN books, of which only the first five are available.

The story is overall enjoyable enough but there are plot holes, unfinished story threads, things dropped from one book to the next, huge inconsistencies and some messy editing. If I ever hear the phrase “I couldn’t help but wonder” again, it will be too soon, as both main characters use this expression far too frequently. At times it sounded AI-generated.

Save your time and your Audible credits.

Dull and annoying

I didn't finish this. I listened to book one and it was kind of ok but the main characters were a bit annoying. They become unbearable in the second book.

People probably will act strangely when the end of the world happens but they won't all be dithering idiots, whining all the time and have no common sense.
