Summary

1954: Über Nacht verschwindet Verfassungsschutzpräsident Otto John - und taucht in Ost-Berlin wieder auf. Wurde er, wie er später behauptet, tatsächlich entführt? Auf Wunsch von Konrad Adenauer übernimmt Philipp Gerber von der Sicherungsgruppe Bonn die Ermittlungen. Gerber hat dem Bundeskanzler schon einmal geholfen, doch diesmal hat er auch ein persönliches Interesse: Seine Geliebte, die Journalistin Eva Herden, ist verschwunden, ein Foto zeigt sie an der Seite von Otto John. Als ein Barbesitzer aus dem Rotlichtmilieu ermordet wird, der viele Geheimnisse der Polit-Elite kannte, steht Eva unter doppeltem Verdacht: als Mörderin und kommunistische Agentin, die den Mann im Auftrag der Sowjets ausgeschaltet haben soll. Auf der Suche nach Eva und den Beweisen ihrer Unschuld gerät Gerber zwischen die Fronten der Geheimdienste.
