Interesting Listen

An interesting book which goes in many different directions. After reading the black house Peter May series, I gave this one a go. Very good start to the Enzo Macleod series.

Intriguing story although a shade too complicated for me

This is a well thought through story with layers of intrigue and complexity. The characters are very real and credible with good interaction. The narration is excellent and very listenable.
For me the story was too complicated to follow with lots of references to places in France with maybe too much focus on the locations which prevented me staying close to the story.

Excellent.

I cannot wait for the next instalment. Love Peter Forbes narration. As good as the Lewis trilogy.

A whistle stop tour of France!

Enjoyed the story and performance except for garde des Skose and a tendency of the author to repeat himself frequently.

Another great discovery for me.

Peter May's portrayal of the Scottish male, full of integrity with a sense of justice, persistence, and curiosity, makes it a pleasure to spend time with this man as he romps chaotically around France doing the most unlikely things.

Duped! This is Dry Bones by Peter May from Audible 2012!

I read the review that mentioned the fact that this is the same book that Peter May released through Audible in 2012 called Dry Bones. I checked my Audible Library and there it was! I have everything by Peter May released on Audible. I don’t like being duped though. Fine if Audible is going to re-release a book with a different (and perhaps better) narrator, but I think this should be mentioned in the book details so the purchaser can make up their own mind whether they want to purchase the same story twice. For some reason I always imagined the character Enzo MacLeod looking like Sean Connery. In this edition of Dry Bones (Extraordinary People), Peter Forbes sounds like Sean Connery, at least to me anyway. Of the two books, I would pick Peter Forbes, but that’s just an opinion. Listen to the sample of Dry Bones to see which narrator you like. Nice try Audible but you got caught out!

A fantastic macabre treasure hunt with a “tomb raiderish” ending! Listen to it now, can’t wait to listen to the next one. Already downloaded!!!

Disappointed

This was a disappointment compared to other books that I have listened to by the same author. Very long descriptions, I often found that I'd stopped listening for several minutes but it didn't really matter. Very tedious obsession with the breasts of the female characters. Almost no forensic science came into the investigation. The ending was a confusing and didn't make any sense.
