About this listen
"Who did this to you?" my enemy growls. You would think the most wanted criminal kingpin in the country would be too busy racking up bodies to care about the bruise on my cheek, but nope. Here he is, holding my chin, while I pretend his touch isn’t electric.
I need to hate him.
Scratch that, I will hate him again. The guy decimated my family, and I've been hunting him ever since, determined to make him pay.
That one night we accidentally spent together before we discovered we were sworn enemies was great. Okay fine, it was the best night of my existence, and the time we shared before it was heaven, but it's time for my heart to accept the truth.
These feelings between us are forbidden and dangerous. If anyone finds out about us, we'll both be killed… And it could put everyone we love in danger.
Yet, here he is. Eyes smoldering with a mixture of rage and longing as he demands, "Give me his name." My heart yearns for him, but how can I let go of this oath etched in my family’s blood? With his dangerous enemies closing in, will we risk it all for love?
Or will our forbidden romance cost us everything?

suspense and romance
This book was so so good,I think I liked it better than the first book.
The story is so intricate and deep and full of drama and action and I LOVED it !!
Fallon falls for the enemy before she even knows he is the enemy, they are on opposite sides of the law and can't be together even though they are attracted to eachother and love eachother.
Fallon and Dylan are contradictory in everyway possible she meets him in an elevator were they both get trapped and have to escape from it when a fire engulfs the building.
They meet again after and start to date, all is going so well and they are very much in Love.
Fallon is a Cop and has been assigned to join the drug task force, making her a target from drug cartel's and drug lords.
Little does she know That Dylan is heavily involved in that world,he is a captain to a drug syndicate he has no idea Fallon is a Cop.
Fallon HATES drugs and that world ,because she had an awful childhood because of Drugs. Both of her parents are drug addicts which ends tragically for both of them.
So she is dedicating her life to taking down drug dealers and their syndicates...
Dylan also had a rough upbringing and got into the drug industry because he had to support his mum and brother, his father is absent.
The bombshell of what they both do for a living explodes in the middle of their budding romance ripping them to shreds...He represents everything she hates, everything she is fighting to take down and as a last ditch attempt to stop from arresting him,She want him to be her informant...So will they come together to destroy the Drug syndicate or will it seperate them forever.?
I had no idea how this story was going to play out and how Kathy Lockheart would make this a love story, when the main characters just can't be together. But she did it perfectly making Dylan a character you cant help fall in love with,he is in deep with his feelings for Fallon he adores her and despite her being a Cop and wanting to bring him down.He is so protective of her and will do anything to keep her from danger.
Fallon has to Wrestle with her own conscience and moral code with her feeling she has for Dylan, she is a Badass and is not afraid to confront the dangerous men of the drug world.
This story will keep you on the edge of your seat there is lots of action and suspense, there is a small amount of steam and it is surprisingly emotional.
There ae some moments that brought tears to my eyes and there was a time when I thought that Kathy was going to end this on a sad note.
The Narration by Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson was Excellent and with ease they both changed their voices for the different characters that they were playing.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them telling the story and it was definately a much more amazing experience listening to the story play out rather than reading it myself.
I cannot wait for book 3 to be released in AUDIO...
A Fantastic book and enthralling story.
LOved it.

Intense, Raw and Entertaining!
This is the second book in the Secrets and the City series. I like this series! Fallon and Dillon's story is intense, raw, entertaining, and captivating, full of action, danger, and twists and turns. Some scene are not for the faint of heart. Fallon is such a strong and smart character. Dillion is enigmatic, handsome, and protective. This is a thrilling and passionate forbidden romance. Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson did an excellent job bringing these characters and this story to life. It's a captivating romantic suspense. I enjoyed it. I can't wait for Lethal Justice, the next book in the series.

A fantastic listen, brings the story alive
How does a DEA officer fall for a Drug Lord , especially when drugs have ruined the lives of people she loves. This is a story of unexpected love between two people who should never have connected. The story has so many twists and turns and is action packed, keeping you on the edge of your seat right to the end. Another amazing listen from Kathy. The narrators give the stry a whole new depth. I picked up on things I missed reading the book. Well worth your listening time.

Not for the faint hearted
⭐⭐⭐. 5
Audiobook Review:
Narrated by Michael Norman Johnson &
Sarah Puckett.
This has dual voices but is told from the female POV only. I prefer reading from both MC POV. However the narrators were very good.
This isn't for the faint hearted. If suspense is your thing then you will love this book. If you're looking for spice then this is not it. There was 1 scene but it wasn't really spicy enough to be rated.
Trigger checking is a must as this is very heavy on addiction and OD.
Fallon has grown up with the tragedy of seeing her parents being addicts. It's very emotional when she relived those moments. This has lead her to be in the police force and fight dr-g dealing gangs. She is very strong and persistent.
Dillon has had no choice but to choose this path to save his mum and brother. He genuinely was a good guy stuck in that world.
Story started light and happy. With Fallon being stuck in a loft with a handsome stranger. Only issue is the building is on fire, so it's all about survival.
The these 2 end up seeing each other. It's not until they fall in love they discover each other's career.
Fallon is working to take out Dillons gang, so she can't be with him. This has left them both in a difficult situation.
It was very fast paced, high action, a lot of unaliving, torture, emotional loss, undercover and thrilling. There was a twist at the end too.
All in all it was a very entertaining and heart racing story to listen too. Only reason for 3.5 star rating is because of lack of spice and story is told from 1 pov.. Otherwise it was good.
