Summary

Eighty-one-year-old Eddie Wakefield is found brutally murdered at the nursing home where he lives. Crudely carved into his flesh - while he was still alive - is the number 15.

Detective Jack MacIntosh and his team are determined to track down the ruthless killer of this frail elderly man. But the investigation is leading nowhere. Then the second body is discovered. The victim was stabbed to death in their own home.Again, the number 15 is etched into the dead man's flesh.

A single clue leads to St Bartholomew's School for Boys, a grim and forbidding institution on England's south coast - and a series of shocking secrets stretching back more than 40 years. What is the significance of the number 15...and is Jack prepared for the horrifying truth?

Listened to 100s of books in same genre, never left a review but this writer and series is OUTSTANDING

Loved this, Mr Mattacks excels himself in these stories - brilliant. Stories, long and winding - very difficult to stop listening. Mitchelle Kidd - scarily good - thank you.

Really enjoying this series !

Great characters none to dislike on Jacks team a little twee but I can handle the occasional sweetness. It can’t all be bad can it? The stories are twisty and turny and keep you guessing and it carries along at a steady pace wanting you to want to know the next bit. Brilliant narration. I’ve listened to book 1&2 back to back. Off for a change Peter Becksleys true crime and then I’ll definitely be back for the last two in the series. Hopefully there will be many more!

Loved this

Loved this and loved the first one too.

A great storyline. A very satisfactory ending and I can't wait for book 3, and to find out what really happened to Stella Macintosh.
