About this listen
The inspirational and honest first book from S Club legend Rachel Stevens
Whether as part of the iconic S Club or as a successful solo artist, Rachel Stevens was in the eye of the Noughties pop storm when she was catapulted to fame in her teens. The whirlwind of celebrity life brought glamour, glitz and BRITs, but not everything was as it seemed behind the smile.
Constantly stereotyped and controlled within the industry, Rachel privately struggled with her self-worth and mental health, but has since been on a journey of development and growth. Following a personal break-up and an S Club reunion – and after finding her voice and a new sense of confidence – Rachel is ready to open up for the very first time, covering everything from the impact of her childhood experiences to managing lifelong anxiety.
Finding My Voice is Rachel’s inspiring, unfiltered story about discovering her true self in a manufactured world.

Props for honesty
Perhaps she was poorly advised during her reading, it’s like a 12 year old reading out loud, very basic. She’s at least pretty honest in her story. Easy listen and I am a fan so I was more than happy to listen.

Cute and Relatable
Quite nice and pleasant book. Sure, Rachel’s story is not the most thrilling or extraordinary, nevertheless, it’s sweet and relatable. The book gave some fascinating epiphanies. If you’re fan of Rach or S Club, defo worth reading.

Lovely lady
S Club 7 defined part of my childhood so getting the chance to read Rachel’s story and reflect back on the past was nice. The book doesn’t hold any dramatic secrets or revolutionary gossip, it is very much just a pleasant read that I would recommend. Thanks for the good times Rachel :)

Very surface level.
I wouldn’t recommend this book as I’ve listened to better memoirs. For someone of her stature I expected a more in depth story but I just got surface level!!

something and nothing
Rachel's voice is nice and easy to listen to.
But a life story in a 4 hour audio book, you know its going to be very superficial and it was. A superficial, barely scratch the surface look at her life, which most of it can be found online and is nothing we don't already know.

Don’t think she found her voice
Hoped for more from her interview with Fern Cotton when promoting her book but it was narrated poorly, for someone trained in acting in LA as she mentions.
Monotone and basic school reading narration along with rushed events or episodes summed up in one or two sentences.
Very poorly written and delivered and wouldn’t recommend this.
She seems to be trying to show depth but it doesn’t come out in this, it comes across as “nice girl” following a cookie cutter approach to life. A lot of the phrases and language used is very basic, life quotes or self help style delivered in a boring way.
