Summary

It's murder being a hit-mom.

When struggling crime writer Finlay Donovan takes on a life of crime normally reserved for her characters, she finds herself entangled in a real-life murder investigation. Witty and fast-paced, this murder mystery is perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich and Maria Semple.

'It is a widely known fact that most mums are ready to kill someone by eight-thirty AM on any given Monday....'

Finlay Donovan, single mum and floundering crime writer, is having a hard time. Her ex-husband went behind her back to fire the nanny, and this morning she sent her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head after an unfortunate incident with scissors.

Making it to lunch with her literary agent is a minor victory but, as she's discussing the plot of her latest crime novel, the conversation is misinterpreted by a woman sitting nearby as that of a hit-woman offering her services to dispose of a 'problem' husband.

And when the woman slips Finlay a name and a promise of a large sum of cash, Finlay finds herself plotting something much bigger than her novel.

And, after all, they do always say: write what you know....

Innovative storyline and a great narrator.

I listened to this title on a recommendation from the Audible book group on Facebook. I thought, once I’d started it, that it was going to be a bit pedestrian, but I was wrong!

Fantastic characters, a completely novel plot and a great ending! Worth every penny of my credit and I’m heading off to buy book 2 right now!

The narrator is absolutely fantastic, children’s voices, male voices and various female voices all spot on with individuality.

amazing performance!

Angela Dawe did a fantastic job of narrating this! She perfectly switched between character voices, I forgot I was listening to a book read by a single person rather than a whole crew.

Quite good

Not too keen on narrator, or maybe it’s just i didn’t gel with the book’s voice. Bit predictable but fun.

entertaining book

it was entertaining, but I found the story and plot quite lacking and hard to believe. seemed she had a lot of luck rather than skill. won't continue.

Ok but predictable

Easy to read but pretty obvious where the story was heading, although a small twist near the end but overall very predictable.

10/10

Absolutely stellar performance by Angela Dawe. Elle Cosimano’s writing is so tangible and realistic. Thoroughly enjoyable and not my usual genre. Instantly downloaded the sequel.
