About this listen

For Blayne Keller, being in the wrong place at the wrong time just might turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to her. Once she stops running for her life.

A typical day at a Chicago travel agency turns deadly when Blayne Keller witnesses a mafia murder. Overnight, her life is turned upside down and she is thrust into WITSEC, the Federal Witness Protection Program, against her wishes. But the mob is determined to keep her from testifying and has someone on the inside leaking information about her every move. Only Alexi Nikolos, an alluring but dangerous WITSEC Inspector with an agenda of her own, can keep Blayne alive - but it's not an easy task when the sparks between them are flying faster than the bullets aimed at their heads.

Great story, awful accents!

Great story, nice and long and keeps you wanting more all the way through. The attempt at various accents by the narrator was truly cringe worthy!

Romance with crime thriller

Again, please see goodreads for full reviews. This is just my input.

I wasn't that engaged with this audiobook compared to other lesbian romances. And I tried to work out way, since it had all the elements needed for a good story. A mafia boss hunting down a witness, being protected by a strong rich female Marshall. There is a lot of traveling and adventure as they try to stay a head of the men trying to kill them.

One area I had a problem with, which is a common problem for audiobooks, is accents. The main character Alexi, was done with a Greek accent, which sounded Russian to me. There are also Dick Van Dyce style english accents. The narrator is very good, generally, but accents, I think should be reserved for very few. The accent thing for Alexi was also hampered by the fact that he dialogue for this character also had few contractions, making the character not very engaging.

Second I think, as others had said, the novel starts off very dramatically, but by the end things have slowed down, become predictable, and the dialogue was not as strong as the beginning. And as far as I can tell Alexi never said the three words to Blayne.

I do recommend it, but there are others which are stronger at this point. Just be aware of the accent thing.

Shocking

The story was hard to follow but only because the performance and editing was so bad. The editing was done by a different woman so it was glaringly obvious when errors has been corrected, and it was often.

I finished it but I could not tell you about the story, and I’m not compelled to buy a hard copy for the worry of it being full of errors.

Very poor.
